Study of forming limit diagram (FLD) prediction of anisotropic sheet metals using Gurson model in M-K method

International Journal of Material Forming, 2021
This study uses the Marciniak and Kuczynski (M-K) method to present an analytical forming limit diagram (FLD) for sheet metals. The procedure for the analytical FLD prediction is described in detail and step-wise manner, and an algorithm is written using MATLAB.

A novel specimen design to establish the forming limit diagram (FLD) for GFRP through stamping test

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2020
Abstract Inspired by metal forming tests, the conventional forming limit diagram (FLD) was employed to characterize the forming properties of the Glass Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene (GFRP) composite in this study. The strain history of GFRP specimens was captured by using a 3D digital image correlation (DIC) system.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) and Forming Limit Stress Diagram (FLSD) For Aluminum Alloy 3105

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
In this paper experimental and theoretical FLD and FLSD of AA3105 are investigated. For this purpose, the forming limit diagram of Aluminum alloy 3105 using out‐of‐plane test is evaluated experimentally. Also, base of emphasis of forming limit stress diagrams and using plasticity equations, the stress limits resulted from strain limits and then forming

Predicting the Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) for Sheet Metals with Planar Anisotropy

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">We have employed Hill's 1948 yield criterion to predict the forming limit curve for planar anisotropic sheet materials by using bifurcation theory. The effects of the material anisotropic parameters, R0, R45 and R90, on the orientation of the neck

Left-Side of the Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) under Superimposed Double-Sided Pressure

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Over the past decades, many kinds of double-sided pressure forming processes have been proposed to improve the formability of lightweight materials which exhibit distinctly poor forming capability. In the present study, the effects of double-sided pressure on the deformation behavior of AA5052-O aluminum alloy sheet metal under tension-compression ...

Prediction of Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) of Al 5182 by using different hardening laws and different localization criteria and comparing with experimental FLD

Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies, 2018
ABSTRACTAluminium alloys play a key role in automotive applications in present days. The main reason for using Al alloys is due to its light weight and high strength to weight ratio.

Experimental Determination of Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) of Steel Sheets

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The forming limit diagram (FLD) is one of useful parameters for evaluating the formability of sheet metal, and has been currently used in the development of forming processes of autobody panels. Also FLD plays an important role for the prediction of fracture in the analyses by numerical forming simulation.

THE EFFECT OF DISCONTINUOUS STRAIN PATH ON THE FORMING LIMIT DIAGRAM FLD IN SHEET MATERIAL

1993
ABSTRACT It has long been recognised that the Keeler and Goodwin's forming limit diagram FLD is an useful analytic tool commonly employed in assessing the formability of sheet materials. Normally, the forming limit diagrams obtained are assumed to be under constant strain ratio or in another word, under linear strain path condition.
