A special combined forward-flyback converter with a simple two windings transformer, an inductor, an active switch, four diodes and a buffer capacitor is explained. The voltage transfer ratio and the demagnetizing condition are derived. The voltage transfer ratio of the new converter is higher as with the forward converter.

International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, 2015SummaryA novel isolated high voltage‐boosting converter, derived from the traditional forward converter, is presented in this paper. As compared with the traditional forward converter, the demagnetizing winding of the transformer in the proposed converter is used not only to demagnetize but also to improve the voltage conversion ratio.
