Forward error correction for advanced optical transmission

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
In this tutorial paper, we compare performance of several classes of forward error correction schemes suitable for advanced optical transmission. The first class is based on the concatenation of two RS codes. The second class is based on turbo product codes with BCH codes as component codes.

Forward error correcting for CDMA systems

Proceedings of ISSSTA'95 International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications, 2002
Spread spectrum systems especially code division multiple access systems (CDMA) match very well with channel coding employing forward error correcting (FEC) methods. We will cover in this overview article some aspects of FEC channel coding in CDMA systems: CDMA/FEC systems can be viewed as concatenated schemes with inner and outer decoding.

Evolution and Status of Forward Error Correction

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2012
An LDPC based soft-decision FEC having a NCG of 10.8dB has been implemented in a coherent ASIC. Greater gain and the interplay with nonlinearity equalizers are anticipated for the real deployment of 100G and beyond.

Compact modalities for forward-error correction

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
Hash tables [1] must work. In fact, few leading analysts would disagree with the refinement of thin clients. In our research, we disprove not only that the infamous read-write algorithm for the exploration of object-oriented languages by W. White et al. is NP-complete, but that the same is true for the lookaside buffer.

Performance of Forward Error-Correction Systems

2004
In one-way systems the information flow is strictly unidirectional: from transmitter to receiver. Such systems can be described in terms of their input and output process characterization. However, in practical applications, only certain characteristics of this process are usually considered.

TCP-Aware Forward Error Correction for Wireless Networks

2010
This paper studies TCP performance improvement in wireless and heterogeneous networks using Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique driven by TCP semantics. In the proposed scheme, called TCP-aware FEC, the amount of redundancy added to a packet at the sender node corresponds to the level of error protection and is computed as a function of TCP ...

A basic research on Forward Error Correction

2011 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Communication Software and Networks, 2011
To profoundly expound the Forward Error Correction, we explain the basic principle and how it works at the beginning, and then introduce and compare several different FEC codes layer by layer. From the block code and those codes which belong to it, such as linear group code, cyclic codes (CRC) and BCH, to the convolution code and trellis diagram. After
