Forward error correction codes for MPEG2 over ATM
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 1994Transport of MPEG2 video and associated audio and data over ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) networks has attracted much interest. A defined MPEG2 transport packet of 188 bytes can fit into 4 ATM cells with 32 bits left for forward error correction (FEC) codes and cell sequence numbers.

Detecting on Forward Error Correction Codes
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Under the development of society, the dissemination of information plays an increasingly significant role. How to achieve the goal of continually reducing the error rate and enhance the quality of communication and construct a highly reliable, efficient and high-speed Broadband Communication System is really a tough task. Here comes the FEC that is one

Decoding forward error correction code in a priori uncertainty
Proceedings of the Southwest State University. Series: IT Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering. Medical Equipment EngineeringThe purpose of research is to increase the efficiency of decoding noise–resistant block codes in conditions of a priori uncertainty about the parameters used.Methods. In modern systems, the use of noise-resistant block codes with a large codeword length is noted, which allows the permitted code combinations to be sufficiently far apart from each other ...

Performance limit of forward error correction codes in optical fiber communications
OFC 2001. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest Postconference Edition (IEEE Cat. 01CH37171), 2001We investigate performance limits of forward error correction codes in optically-amplified fiber channels with asymmetric channel statistics. We show that the binary symmetric channel approximation underestimates the maximum coding gain achievable in fiber communications.

Real-Time FPGA Investigation of Potential FEC Schemes for 800G-ZR/ZR+ Forward Error Correction
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2023Forward error correction (FEC) performance down to 1e-15 bit error rate (BER) of a open FEC code (OFEC), which was recently proposed for the 800G inter-data center interconnect (DCI) standard, is verified with a 100-piece-FPGA implementation at a record ...

Real-Time FPGA Investigation of Interplay Between Probabilistic Shaping and Forward Error Correction
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2022In this work, we implement a complete probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS) architecture on a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) platform to study the interplay between probabilistic shaping (PS) and forward error correction (FEC).

Multimedia forward error correcting codes for wirelessLAN
Annales Des Télécommunications, 2003In this paper the forward error correction (FEC) codes useful for multimedia wireless transmissions are discussed. The class of usable codes are produced by multiple description (packet equivalence during transmission) after an initial hierarchical representation (joint source channel coding) stage.

Forward-Error-Correction for Beyond-5G Ultra-High Throughput Communications
International Symposium on Turbo Codes and Iterative Information Processing, 2021Forward-Error-Correction (FEC) constitutes a dominant power consuming and throughput limiting component in the end-to-end digital baseband chain for wireless systems. With the progress in THz and Tbit/s link-level technologies towards practical solutions

Forward error correction with RaptorQ code on GPU
2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013RaptorQ code, the next generation of Raptor code for forward error correction (FEC), is proposed to significantly reduce the redundant information. However, the improved coding performance comes at the expense of increased encoding and decoding complexity.
