Performance limit of forward error correction codes in optical fiber communications
We investigate performance limits of forward error correction codes in optically-amplified fiber channels with asymmetric channel statistics. We show that the binary symmetric channel approximation underestimates the maximum coding gain achievable in fiber communications.

Forward error correction codes to reduce intercarrier interference in OFDM
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is sensitive to the carrier frequency offset (CFO), which destroys orthogonality and causes intercarrier interference (ICI). Recently, a simple rate 1/2 repeat coding scheme has been shown to be effective in suppressing ICI. That such a simple coding scheme is so effective raises an interesting question.

Multimedia forward error correcting codes for wirelessLAN
Annales Des Télécommunications, 2003In this paper the forward error correction (FEC) codes useful for multimedia wireless transmissions are discussed. The class of usable codes are produced by multiple description (packet equivalence during transmission) after an initial hierarchical representation (joint source channel coding) stage.

Detecting on Forward Error Correction Codes
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Under the development of society, the dissemination of information plays an increasingly significant role. How to achieve the goal of continually reducing the error rate and enhance the quality of communication and construct a highly reliable, efficient and high-speed Broadband Communication System is really a tough task. Here comes the FEC that is one

Performance Analysis of Forward Error Correcting Codes in IPTV
2008 Second International Conference on Electrical Engineering, 2008In recent years the forward error correction (FEC) schemes at the binary erasure channel have been researched for many applications including DVB-H and IPTV systems. In most cases the packet-level FEC strategies are implemented by either Reed-Solomon (RS) codes at the link layer or Raptor codes at the application layer.

Forward error correction with RaptorQ code on GPU
2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013RaptorQ code, the next generation of Raptor code for forward error correction (FEC), is proposed to significantly reduce the redundant information. However, the improved coding performance comes at the expense of increased encoding and decoding complexity.

A brief look at Forward Error Correcting codes
2011 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Software Engineering and Service Science, 2011Forward Error Correcting codes are the codes applied in error correction in the communications, by adding redundancies. Without a feedback channel, it is an attractive alternate of ARQ in long delay path and one-way transmission. FECs could also avoid multicast problems. However, in practice, FECs could be relative inefficient due to the expensive cost

An overview of forward error-correction coding for spread spectrum
Proceedings of ISSSTA'95 International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications, 2002An overview of forward error-correction (FEC) coding for spread spectrum is given. The relations between FEC and spreading in spread spectrum are discussed. Some coding schemes such as convolutional coding, trellis coding and turbo coding for spread spectrum are compared. Finally, conclusions and future research topics are presented.

Analysis of forward error correcting codes
2011 International Conference on System science, Engineering design and Manufacturing informatization, 2011Error control coding is a vital means to improve reliability of information communication. Among the various types of error correcting codes, FEC is outstanding in real-time transmission because of its unique property of not asking transmitter for additional data. It has big potential in application.

Forward error correction with RaptorQ Code on embedded systems
2011 IEEE 54th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2011Raptor code, a member of the rateless fountain codes family, has been a preferred technology for the forward error correction (FEC) at the application layer. It is used by the 3rd Generation Partnership Program (3GPP) Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) and Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-H) standards for multimedia broadcast and content ...
