Testing Distributional Granger Causality With Entropic Optimal Transport

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We develop a novel nonparametric test for Granger causality in distribution based on entropic optimal transport. Unlike classical mean‐based approaches, the proposed method directly compares the full conditional distributions of a response variable with and without the history of a candidate predictor.

The Accuracy Smoothness Dilemma in Prediction: A Novel Multivariate M‐SSA Forecast Approach

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Forecasting presents a complex estimation challenge, as it involves balancing multiple, often conflicting, priorities and objectives. Conventional forecast optimization methods typically emphasize a single metric, such as minimizing the mean squared error (MSE), which may neglect other crucial aspects of predictive performance. To address this

Effect of Maxillary Expansion and Protraction in Class III Children on Quality of Life, Dentofacial and Upper Airway Characteristics: A Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the relationship between early dentofacial orthopaedic treatment, improvement in the width of oropharynx and nasopharynx, and quality of life. Materials and Methods Thirty‐three prepubertal children with skeletal Class III (median age 9 years; 56% females) received treatment with a maxillary expander and facemask.

Dental Students' Knowledge, Attitudes and Perceptions of Artificial Intelligence Tools to Aid in the Diagnosis of Oral Cancer and Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool in dentistry, particularly in the early detection of oral cancer (OC) and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs). Data focused on European dental students and their knowledge/attitudes towards the use of AI for diagnosing OC/OPMDs are limited.

Is acquisition‐related foreign direct investment during an economic crisis detrimental for domestic innovation?

open access: yesThe Scandinavian Journal of Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract We study how acquisition‐related foreign direct investment during economic crises affects R&D investments and the direction of innovation of target firms, compared with acquisitions made during periods of strong economic growth. Using a panel of Spanish firms, we find that foreign multinationals cherry‐pick the best domestic firms ...

Eight weeks of post‐exercise local heating does not improve cognition and plasma brain‐derived neurotrophic factor concentrations

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exercise and heat stress have been reported to independently provide benefits to brain health. We tested the hypothesis that 8 weeks of post‐exercise local heating, passive local heating only, or exercise training only improves cognitive performance compared to a control group.

Differential effect of lead and cadmium on mitochondrial function and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in human trophoblast

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The human placenta not only detects the presence of Pb and Cd but also carries hypoxia and inflammatory risks, which are associated with pregnancy complications. To understand the impact of these factors on the placental trophoblast, we evaluated the effect of Pb and Cd on mitochondrial function and the NLRP3 inflammasome in ...

Unveiling sex dimorphism in the healthy cardiac anatomy: Fundamental differences between male and female heart shapes

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We present a shape modelling‐based morphological analysis of sex differences in cardiac anatomy. We conduct our analysis on 456 healthy subjects from the UK Biobank (227M/229F) to uncover sex‐based differences in healthy cardiac morphology.

A Survey for Deep Reinforcement Learning Based Network Intrusion Detection

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
This paper surveys deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for network intrusion detection, evaluating model efficiency, minority attack detection, and dataset imbalance. Findings show DRL achieves state‐of‐the‐art results on public datasets, sometimes surpassing traditional deep learning.
