Ellipsoidal electrogastrographic forward modelling
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2005The theoretical and computational study of the electromagnetic forward and inverse problems in ellipsoidal geometry is important in electrogastrography because the geometry of the human stomach can be well approximated using this idealized body. Moreover, the anisotropies inherent to this organ can be highlighted by the characteristics of the electric ...

Forward Models for Physiological Motor Control
Neural Networks, 1996Based on theoretical and computational studies it has been suggested that the central nervous system (CNS) internally simulates the behaviour of the motor system in planning, control and learning. Such an internal "forward" model is a representation of the motor system that uses the current state of the motor system and motor command to predict the ...

AbstractThe uses of simulation are virtually endless. In this article we consider only a few. The first is the use of simulation to take a data set and generate pseudo data points which are essentially stochastic combinations of points in the data set. This SIMDAT application is model free.

Three creatures named ‘forward model’
Neural Networks, 2002It has recently been suggested that the nervous system employs forward models for the purpose of motor control. The evidence for this hypothetical computational structure comes from various sources, theoretical and experimental. The purpose of this commentary is to distinguish between three different structures that are used to support the forward ...

A valuation model is presented to calculate price, hedge ratio, and implied volatility for forward starting European calls and puts. The model focuses on the numerical accuracy of the implementation.

Abstract In this chapter we study the Heath–Jarrow–Morton framework for forward rate models. Building on results from the previous chapter, the HJM drift condition is derived, some examples are studied, and the general Gaussian HJM model is analyzed in detail.

This chapter examines the specifics, mechanics, and terminology of a vastly popular contract type in the over-the-counter (OTC) market: the forward contract (or simply forward). The opening section defines a forward contract and describes its associated business rules.

Forward Model Nonlinearity versus Inverse Model Nonlinearity
Groundwater, 2007Abstract The issue of concern is the impact of forward model nonlinearity on the nonlinearity of the inverse model. The question posed is, “Does increased nonlinearity in the head solution (forward model) always result in increased nonlinearity in the inverse solution (estimation of hydraulic conductivity)?” It is shown that the two ...
