Forward Physics Results from ATLAS [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2012
The measurements of rapidity gap cross sections and dijet production with a veto on additional central jet activity, performed at the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, are discussed. The rapidity gap cross section analysis measures the differential cross section as a function of the forward rapidity gap size.

Evaluation of a novel EHR sidecar application to display RA clinical outcomes during clinic visits: results of a stepped‐wedge cluster randomized pragmatic trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We developed a novel EHR sidecar application to visualize key rheumatoid arthritis (RA) outcomes, including disease activity, physical function, and pain, via a patient‐facing graphical interface designed for use during outpatient visits (“RA PRO dashboard”).

Use of a Molecular Signature Response Classifier to Inform Treatment Selection Improves Clinical Disease Activity Among Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis Initiating a Biologic or Targeted Synthetic Disease‐Modifying Antirheumatic Drug

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We assessed the effectiveness of PrismRA to improve clinical outcomes among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) initiating treatment with a biologic or targeted synthetic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drug (b/tsDMARD). Methods PrismRA incorporated 19 gene expression features and four clinical features to assess a patient's likelihood of

Measurement of the transverse Single Spin Asymmetry of Forward Eta Mesons in $p^{\uparrow}+p$ Collisions in PHENIX

open access: yes, 2012
Polarized $p+p$ collisions provide insight into the structure of the nucleon. $A_N$ of eta mesons at forward rapidities are of particular interest, as asymmetries of other mesons observed both by PHENIX and other experiments show significant deviation ...

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Forward Proton Detectors at High Luminosity at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss the special challenges posed by measuring diffractive and forward physics at the LHC at high luminosity and the solutions proposed by the FP420 R&D collaboration.Comment: 5 pages, no pictures, contribution to the proceedings of ...

Forward proton physics at LHC

open access: yes, 2023
Diffractive phenomena constitute a large fraction of interactions occurring in pp collisions at LHC. Because of the non-perturbative nature, their present understanding is still relatively poor and uncertain. One of the methods to study these processes is forward proton tagging. I will discuss the mechanism of diffractive processes, recent results, and

An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.
