Amylin analogues as a novel perspective in anti‐obesity therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Public health systems face a major challenge because of the worldwide obesity epidemic. The number of obese individuals has increased dramatically and, even in Switzerland which may be considered a relatively “lean” country, the numbers are alarmingly high and have reached almost 50% of the adult population.

The expression of c‐ fos protein in human breast

The Journal of Pathology, 1991
Abstract The expression of the c‐ fos protein has been examined in non‐malignant and malignant human breast using immunohistochemistry. Since in some cell types expression is associated with differentiation, while in other cells induction is related to growth, the extent of ...

Alteration of c-fos gene methylation in human gliomas

Molecular Carcinogenesis, 1996
In an attempt to find a common DNA alteration occurring in human glioma, we examined DNA methylation in 34 gliomas of various pathological grades and compared them with those in normal cerebral subcortex DNA. The total methylated cytosine levels in the genome did not differ appreciably between the tumors and the normal tissues; however, the degree of ...

An immunohistochemical study of the c-fos protooncogene in the developing human retina

Neuroscience, 1994
The localization and distribution of the protooncogene c-fos were studied immunohistochemically in the retina of human fetuses ranging in age from 15 to 40 weeks of gestation. The highest levels of immunoreactivity were observed in the retinae of younger fetuses, decreasing in intensity with increasing age.

Fe, fi, fo, fum, I smell the diet of a healthy human

Cell, 2021
Diet-induced changes in the microbiome can alter immune function and promote inflammation. In a new paper in Cell, Wastyk et al. report that intervention with diets high in fermented foods or plant-based fiber have the potential to increase microbial diversity and reduce markers of immune-mediated inflammation.

C-fos and c-jun expression in human endometrium and myometrium

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1996
Estrogen is a mitogen in human endometrium and is considered to be responsible also for myometrial cell proliferation. Signalling pathways of estrogen action in these tissues are not known. In various other estrogen responsive cells, estrogen induces transient expressions of c-fos and c-jun mRNAs.
