Essential Amino Acids and Exercise Tolerance in Elderly Muscle‐Depleted Subjects with Chronic Diseases: A Rehabilitation without Rehabilitation?

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Exercise intolerance remains problematic in subjects with chronic heart failure (CHF) and/or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Recent studies show that supplemented essential amino acids (EAAs) may exert beneficial effects on CHF/COPD physical capacity.

Carbon Dioxide Absorption and Release Properties of Pyrolysis Products of Dolomite Calcined in Vacuum Atmosphere

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
The decomposition of dolomite into CaO and MgO was performed at 1073 K in vacuum and at 1273 K in an Ar atmosphere. The dolomite calcined in vacuum was found to have a higher specific surface area and a higher micropore volume when compared to the dolomite calcined in the Ar atmosphere.

Unaffected Arm Muscle Hypercatabolism in Dysphagic Subacute Stroke Patients: The Effects of Essential Amino Acid Supplementation

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
Alterations in muscle protein turnover of the unaffected side of stroke patients could contribute to physical disability. We investigated whether hypercatabolic activity occurred in unaffected arm muscle and whether supplemented essential amino acids (EAAs) could limit muscle hypercatabolism (MH).

Inhomogeneous deformations of Einstein solvmanifolds

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2024.
Abstract For each non‐flat, unimodular Ricci soliton solvmanifold (S0,g0)$(\mathsf {S}_0,g_0)$, we construct a one‐parameter family of complete, expanding, gradient Ricci solitons that admit a cohomogeneity one isometric action by S0$\mathsf {S}_0$. The orbits of this action are hypersurfaces homothetic to (S0,g0)$(\mathsf {S}_0,g_0)$.

Clinical Characteristics and Course of Patients Entering Cardiac Rehabilitation with Chronic Kidney Disease: Data from the Italian Survey on Cardiac Rehabilitation

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
This survey shows the clinical risk profile, resource utilization, pharmacologic treatment, and course of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Data from 165 CR units in Italy were collected online from January 28 to February 10, 2008.

Effect of particle size and interparticle force on the fluidization behavior of gas-fluidized beds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Gas-fluidized powders of fine particles display a fluidlike regime in which the bed does not have a yield strength, it expands uniformly as the gas velocity is increased and macroscopic bubbles are absent.

How to Differentiate Hemianesthesia from Left Tactile Neglect: A Preliminary Case Report

open access: yesBehavioural Neurology, Volume 26, Issue 1-2, Page 151-155, 2013., 2013
When assessing for the presence of hemianesthesia, the examiner touches the body of the patients, and requests that they report verbally the location of the delivered tactile stimulus. Contralesional omissions of single tactile stimuli, however, might be due to either primary somatosensory deficits or to spatial attention impairment (i.e., neglect). In
