Tunable Coordination Number in Non‐Metal‐Introduced Copper Catalysts Enables High‐Performance Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to C2 Products

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Copper catalysts introduced with different non‐metallic elements regulating the coordination number of Cu are prepared by magnetron sputtering. Reducing the Cu coordination number enhances C─C coupling and boosts C2+ product selectivity, by lowering the energy barrier for the *CO → *CHO conversion step. The optimized Si‐doped Cu catalyst achieves a C2+

Side Reaction Pathway Modulation for Hydrogen Evolution‐Free Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A ZnO–TeO2–Te ternary composite layer with a unique rice grain‐like morphology is spontaneously formed on the Zn anode via telluric acid additive. This functional interphase effectively suppresses side reactions such as zinc hydroxide sulfate formation, hydrogen evolution, and Zn corrosion, enabling highly reversible and stable Zn metal cycling in ...

Chronospaces: An R package for the statistical exploration of divergence times promotes the assessment of methodological sensitivity

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Much of our understanding of the history of life hinges upon time calibration, the process of assigning absolute times to cladogenetic events. Bayesian approaches to time‐scaling phylogenetic trees have dramatically grown in complexity, and depend today ...

Multiple global radiations in tadpole shrimps challenge the concept of ‘living fossils’

open access: yesPeerJ, 2013
‘Living fossils’, a phrase first coined by Darwin, are defined as species with limited recent diversification and high morphological stasis over long periods of evolutionary time.

A Fossil Buttercup [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1922
WHEN we examine a catalogue of fossil plants, such as that for North America recently published by Knowlton, we are struck by the enormous number of recorded species, and readily receive the impression that the flora of former ages is quite well known.
