Kinship foster care and foster care in the Netherlands
Children and Youth Services Review, 2003This study examines the similarities and differences between foster parents and kinship foster parents in the Netherlands. Both parents and caseworkers have filled out questionnaires for the purpose of this study. No evidence has been found to support the argument that kinship foster care holds advantages over foster care.

Beside child-centered reasons, self-oriented and society-oriented reasons also play a role. This research examined the motivations of 192 Flemish non-kinship foster parents to become a foster parent.
