Generative Flow Networks (GFlowNets) have been introduced as a method to sample a diverse set of candidates in an active learning context, with a training objective that makes them approximately sample in proportion to a given reward function. In this paper, we show a number of additional theoretical properties of GFlowNets.

It is often stated that there are no laws in biology, where everything is contingent and could have been otherwise, being solely the result of historical accidents. Furthermore, the customary introduction of fundamental biological entities such as individual organisms, cells, genes, catalysts, and motors remains largely descriptive; constructive ...

Foundations of Inference [PDF]
We present a simple and clear foundation for finite inference that unites and significantly extends the approaches of Kolmogorov and Cox. Our approach is based on quantifying lattices of logical statements in a way that satisfies general lattice symmetries.

The role of foundations: Rockefeller Foundation [PDF]
The consequences of climate change and the impacts of human activity on the environment have made it clearer than ever before that we must evolve our current model of public health to better account for the inextricable link between human health and the natural systems on which it depends-creating a "public health 2.0" that builds on the innovations of

Simulation of a turbine case vibrations for the analysis of transition process [PDF]
Problem. The problem of issues of increased vibration for the case sheets of the steam turbines with the capacity of more than 500 МW was considered. For this work it was found that the main cause of increased vibration in turbine-type steam equipment is

Univalent foundations as structuralist foundations [PDF]
Univalent foundations (UF), which grew out of homotopy-theoretic models of Martin-Löf type theory, replace sets with homotopy types as fundamental objects. In the paper under review, the author argues that UF may provide a suitable formalisation of the structuralist approach to mathematics.

Steel slag has become a promising supplementary cementitious material for soft soil stabilization. However, there is a lack of research on the integrated assessment of cement–steel-slag-stabilized soft soils (SCSs) from the performance, environmental ...
