Ethical Deliberation: A Foundation for Evidence-Based Practice

Seminars in Speech and Language, 2011
Infusing evidence-based practice (EBP) into the clinical setting implies that professionals use evidence that is relevant and credible, maintain their pursuit of best current knowledge, respect their clients' preferences and values, and keep these clients and their families appropriately informed about their treatment options.

Coherence, Foundations, and Evidence

1993
Abstract In this chapter, I (1) examine the contrast between foundationalism and coherentism, and (2) consider evidentialism, a special variety of foundationalism. After arguing that the central tenet of coherentism is that the sole source of warrant is coherence, I argue that coherentism is mistaken and endorse foundationalism.

Evidence and self-evidence in the foundations of logic [PDF]

open access: possible, 2018
We relate the question of the correctness of proofs and of a possible foundation of a logical system to a general, computational, concept of a formal system as a mechanical procedure, in the sense of a Turing machine, for producing provable formulas (Gödel 1934/64).

Evidence-Based Guidelines As a Foundation For Performance Incentives

Mathematical Foundations of Evidence Theory

1995
Reasoning schemes in artificial intelligence (and elsewhere) use information and knowledge, but the inference my depend on assumptions which are uncertain. In this case arguments in favour of and against hypotheses can be derived. These arguments may be weighed by their likelihoods and thereby the credibility and plausibility of different possible ...

Foundations of Evidence-Based Practice

Evidence-based medicine involves systematic research evaluation with clinical expertise for optimal patient care. The hierarchy of evidence ranges from meta-analyses and randomized controlled trials to case reports and expert opinions, each with distinct strengths and limitations.
