Computer aided engineering in the foundry industry
Materials & Design, 1984Abstract Refinement of design and increasing demands for accurate pattern, core box and die making haved caused both designers and manufacturers to see how the computer might be used to aid them in their problems. The system of computer aided engineering [CAD/CAM°)] both for design and for manufacture shown in the following, is now firmly established

Foundry reliability engineering requirement & challenges
2010 IEEE International Integrated Reliability Workshop Final Report, 2010Foundries enable a low risk, cost effective and competitive entry into the marketplace for fabless design companies. As the complexity of the technology increases due to rapid introduction of new materials, the landscape and roles of foundry reliability engineering has changed too. These changes have brought about different requirements and challenges.

Mortality at an Automotive Engine Foundry and Machining Complex
Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2001Mortality was analyzed for an automotive engine foundry and machining complex, with process exposures derived from department assignments. Logistic regression models of mortality odds ratios (ORs) were calculated for 2546 deaths, and numbers of work-related deaths were estimated.

A simulation study of an automotive foundry plant manufacturing engine blocks
Proceedings of the Winter Simulation Conference, 2003This paper discusses the initial efforts to implement simulation modeling as a visual management and analysis tool at an automotive foundry plant manufacturing engine blocks. The foundry process was modeled using Pro Model to identify bottlenecks and evaluate machine performance, cycle times and production data (total parts, rejects, throughput ...

Pattern of vertical engineering collaboration between foundry and design service provider
ISSM 2005, IEEE International Symposium on Semiconductor Manufacturing, 2005., 2005As IC design and manufacturing complexities continue to increase exponentially, it is becoming less practical for a single company to provide products and services without collaborated partners. The goal of this research is then to explore how foundries and design service providers collaborate with each other under the new business paradigm.

A case-control study of lung cancer at a foundry and two engine plants
American Journal of Industrial Medicine, 1997A nested case-control study of lung cancer was conducted among workers at an iron foundry and two engine manufacturing plants whose lung cancer mortality rates were slightly higher than expected. The study included 231 lung cancer cases and 408 controls for whom complete work histories were obtained.
