Elution of Foundry Sand and Mould Mixture in Water
Materials Testing, 2008Abstract Over 90% of iron alloy castings are made in disposable moulds, i.e. in raw synthetic moulds. Raw mould mixture is applied in all production process types. Mould mixture is composed of sand as the basic component, binding material, water, and additives.

Recycling of waste foundry sands
Science of The Total Environment, 1992Abstract Waste foundry sands are industrial wastes of important quantity. Because of the partially very high contamination of these sands with polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), some of them potent carcinogens, dumping of these sand in landfills without appropriate safety measures, or use in road and landscape construction is very problematic.

Foundry Sands as Supports for Heterogeneous Photocatalysts
Water, Air, & Soil Pollution, 2016Foundry sands from the iron foundry industry were employed as a support source for photocatalysts. TiCl4 was used as the titanium precursor in the preparation of the supported photocatalysts. The solids were characterized by scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy in ...

Flowable Slurry Containing Foundry Sands
Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 1997This research was carried out to evaluate the use of foundry sands on properties of flowable slurry. Two different flowable slurry mixtures were proportioned for strength levels in the 0.34-0.69 MPa (50-100 psi) range, at 28 days, using two different sources of foundry sand and two different sources of ASTM Class F fly ash.

Titanium Casting with Sand Foundry Techniques
Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1971The ability to produce a east titanium configuration has a history of approximately 10 years. It is presently being done in the United States by six companies. Casting of titanium is no simple task when one considers the thousands of foundries in existence producing cast parts from other metals.

[Environmental toxicity of waste foundry sand].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2014The metal leaching characteristics and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of five different types of waste foundry sands were analyzed with the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) and head space-gas chromatography (HS-GC). Microtox and soil dehydrogenase activity (DHA) tests were then used to evaluate the bio-effects of these waste sands ...

CAPILLARITY OF CONCRETE INCORPORATING FOUNDRY SAND AS REPLACEMENT OF SAND
2014The potential uses and the high cost of land-filling of used foundry sands have prompted research into their beneficial reuse. This paper presents the results of experimental research into concrete produced by replacing the natural aggregates with recycled aggregates coming from foundry industries. Little work has been done so far on the effect of used
