Lake–Groundwater Biogeochemical Interactions in a River‐Delimited System: The Groundwater and Lakes Urban Observatory (GLUO)

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 110, Issue 2, Page 135-150, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Preservation of urban aquatic ecosystems is of primary importance for human well‐being, biodiversity protection and the future of society. Lake–groundwater–river interactions within urban floodplains harbour intrinsic fragility, yet remain largely understudied.

Efficient design of tall tapered feeders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Toowoomba Foundry is seeking help with the design of tall tapered feeders, which supply extra molten iron to poured castings as they cool. There is a problem with the reliability of the feeders, particularly for thicker castings of the newer spheroidal ...

Untersuchungen zur Aufbereitung von Gießerei‐Altsand‐Regenerierstäuben mittels Abweiseradsichter Investigations into the Treatment of Foundry Sand Regeneration Dust Using a Deflector Wheel Sifter

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 97, Issue 10, Page 964-973, October 2025.

Tensile Strength Measurement for Foundry Sand Brick

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering and Management Research, 2018
Tensile strength is an important concept in engineering, especially in the fields of material science, mechanical engineering and structural Engineering. The tensile strength of a material is the maximum amount of tensile stress that can be applied to it before it ceases to be elastic.

Non‐invasive Analyses of an Etruscan Fibula From Vulci (Italy): The Benefits of a Combination of Micro‐Raman Spectroscopy, 3D Reconstruction Through X‐Ray Microscopy and ED‐XRF With Monte Carlo Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 56, Issue 10, Page 1018-1030, October 2025.
This study analyzed an Etruscan bronze fibula through non‐destructive techniques. The patina and alloy were examined using micro‐Raman spectroscopy and ED‐XRF with Monte Carlo simulations, revealing the formation of corrosion products such as brochantite and sampleite and a binary Cu‐Sn alloy composition.

What's in Your Soil? A Citywide Investigation of the Importance of Soil Lead for Predicting Elevated Blood Lead Levels in Chicago

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Lead exposure remains a persistent environmental health threat. Soil contamination is recognized as an overlooked yet critical reservoir of childhood lead exposure due to a legacy of historical lead use in gasoline, paint, and industry. However, it is unclear whether measuring soil lead is an effective way to screen for risk at the community ...
