Designing of Fountain Codes with Short Code-Length

2007 3rd International Workshop on Signal Design and Its Applications in Communications, 2007
Fountain codes is a class of forward correcting codes (FEC) very suitable for applications like content dissemination and reliable multicasting in erasure channels. However, the code-length of the traditional fountain codes is quite large that holds back the data fountain scheme from efficiently supporting real-time services and resource restricted ...

Analysis for RS-coding and fountain-code for erasure coding

Applied and Computational Engineering, 2023
This research provides an in-depth analysis of RS-coding and fountain-coding for erasure cod-ing, focusing on the different circumstances that data storage may face during daily usage. The essay outlines the fundamental information of RS-code and fountain-code, and com-pares their effectiveness in addressing varying degrees of erasure in the data disk.

Interleaved subspace codes in fountain mode

2017 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2017
We consider subspace codes obtained by lifting L-interleaved [n, k] Gabidulin codes. When used in networks with random linear coding, these codes are able to correct with high probability γ packet insertions and δ packet deletions provided that γ/L + δ ≤ n − k. We propose to use these subspace codes in the so called fountain mode.

Online Fountain Codes With Low Overhead

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2015
An online fountain code is defined as a fountain code for which an optimal encoding strategy can be found efficiently given any instantaneous decoding state. This property is important for data distribution in practical networks. In this paper, we formalize the problem of online fountain code construction, and propose new online fountain codes that ...

Television broadcast using Unequal Fountain Codes

2014 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting, 2014
A fundamental problem in wireless networks is to develop an effective communication protocols that achieve high throughput by using user's diversity. In broadcast system. Thus, users with better channel performance has to wait others to receive all information, and results in a waste of the wireless resources.

Brief Announcment: Corruption Resilient Fountain Codes

2008
A new aspect for erasure coding is considered, namely, the possibility that some portion of the arriving packets are corrupted in an undetectable fashion. In practice, the corrupted packets may be attributed to a portion of the communication paths that are leading to the receiver and are controlled by an adversary.
