Viktoriia Shtefan, Thorgund Nemec, Ute Hempel, Annett Gebert and coworkers demonstrate that anodic treatment of Ti–Cu‐based metallic glass in a nontoxic pyrophosphate electrolyte forms a protective bilayered Ti/Zr‐oxide film enriched with Cu nanocrystals.

A study of the effect of temperature and axial strain on the parametric wavelengths produced by four-wave mixing in microstructured optical fibers is presented. Degenerate four-wave mixing was generated in the fibers by pumping at normal dispersion, near

Theory and applications of four-wave mixing in photorefractive media [PDF]
The development of a theory of four-wave mixing in photo-refractive crystals is described. This theory is solved in the undepleted pumps approximation with linear absorption and without using the undepleted pumps approximation for negligible absorption ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

We propose and demonstrate a 250-GHz high-repetition-rate mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser, which utilizes a silicon micro-ring resonator (SMRR). The SMRR acts as an optical comb filter to help achieve passive mode-locking through the dissipative four ...

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.

Phase sensitive amplification enabled by coherent population trapping
We isolate a novel four-wave mixing process, enabled by coherent population trapping (CPT), leading to efficient phase sensitive amplification. This process is permitted by the exploitation of two transitions starting from the same twofold degenerate ...

A Unified Theory of Intrachannel Nonlinearity in Pseudolinear Phase-Modulated Transmission
It is shown that the phase distribution of the field and the detection scheme strongly affect the strength of the nonlinear impairments in phase-modulated transmission systems.
