A Four Channel Photoelectric Photometer

International Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1971
Abstract A simultaneous four channel photoelectric photometer has been used successfully by astronomers at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in the past three years to measure the colours of some 2000 stars. The optics consist of a small grating spectrograph with quartz lenses.

A four-channel squid magnetometer for brain research

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1984
A 4-channel differential SQUID magnetometer has been built. Its design principles and construction are described. Proper matching of the detection coil to the SQUID input is discussed. Examples of auditory, dental pain and visual evoked response data are presented.

Four channels mediate the mechanical aspects of touch

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1988
Although previous physiological and anatomical experiments have identified four afferent fiber types (PC, RA, SA II, and SA I) in glabrous (nonhairy) skin of the human somatosensory periphery, only three have been shown to mediate tactile (mechanoreceptive) sensation.

A four-channel communications arbiter for multiprocessor arrays

Microprocessors and Microsystems, 1994
The paper indicates the role of arbitration in multiprocessor arrays and points out the limitations of conventional arbiters for this application. A novel arbitration scheme, called time-out arbitration, which is much more suitable for multiprocessor arrays, is then presented.

Four-channel integrated-optics coupler and frequency-channel multiplexer

Soviet Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1980
A simple method was developed for the fabrication of strip waveguides in glass with losses below 1 dB/cm. A technique for the determination of the parameters of these waveguides was also developed. An integrated-optics structure was constructed from strip waveguides, which could be used in multimodefiber communication lines.

Channel Four — Challenges of Commercialism

1989
The BBC still dominates discussion of British broadcasting. That this should be so, sixty years after its formation, and in the teeth of change, both technological and cultural, is a reminder of how powerfully the BBC has embedded itself in our lives. But it would be completely false to regard the past sixty years as the unfolding of a planned growth.

Four-channel polarimeter for time-resolved ellipsometry

Optics Letters, 1987
A new four-channel partial polarimeter was designed for use in time-resolved ellipsometry measurements. The device outputs four parallel, equispaced beams from a single input beam. By detecting and digitizing the intensities of these four beams, the intensity, as well as two of the three elements of the reduced Stokes vector can be determined.

Four varieties of voltage-gated proton channels

Frontiers in Bioscience, 1998
n human beings, infection with the tubercle bacillus usually results in inapparent disease, recognized only by a positive tuberculin reaction. However, about 10% of tuberculin-positive people develop clinically active tuberculosis (TB). The Lurie tubercle count method is probably the most accurate way to measure a vaccine's ability to prevent such ...

Lysis of Uterine Adhesions with the Four-Channel Hysteroscope

Journal of Gynecologic Surgery, 1995
Hysteroscopy with direct visualization of the uterine cavity has made intrauterine surgery easier and safer. Most hysteroscopes have one operating channel. This report illustrates the four-channel Baggish-Weck hysteroscope, which allows simultaneous clearing of the surgical field and lysis of adhesions.
