Trans Fatty Acid Analysis of Frying Oil Using ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy: A Study on Indian Traditional Snack Foods

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control, 2020
Background: Trans Fatty Acid (TFA) content in oil is an important quality parameter due to its adverse health effect. This study was aimed to examine the TFA content in the frying oil used by street food vendors in India for two traditional snack foods ...

Evaluating investment decisions based on the business cycle: A South African sector approach

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2020
Sector investing aims to guide investors in identifying undervalued securities. Knowing which sectors flourish at different phases of the business cycle, investment returns may be boosted by increasing holdings in securities from strengthening sectors ...

Pointwise and uniform convergence of Fourier extensions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Fourier series approximations of continuous but nonperiodic functions on an interval suffer the Gibbs phenomenon, which means there is a permanent oscillatory overshoot in the neighbourhoods of the endpoints. Fourier extensions circumvent this issue by approximating the function using a Fourier series which is periodic on a larger interval.

Covalently‐Bonded Diaphite Nanoplatelet with Engineered Electronic Properties of Diamond

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel approach to engineering the electronic properties of diamond is reported on the diaphite nanoplatelet consisting of (11¯${{\bar{1}}}$1) planes of diamond nanoplatelet covalently bonded with graphite (0001) planes. The strong sp3/sp2‐hybridized interfacial covalent bonding induces the electron transfer from diamond to graphite, resulting in a ...

Highly‐Entangled Hydrogel Electrolyte for Fast Charging/Discharging Properties in Aqueous Zinc Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A highly‐entangled polyacrylamide (HE‐PAM) hydrogel is designed as an aqueous electrolyte for the fast charging/discharging properties in Zn/MnO2 batteries. Such hydrogel electrolyte possessed excellent mechanical characters, stable cycling capability, and superb rate performance under high current densities. These characters can also be applied in the

Temporal modification in cardiac rhythmicity of Nephrops norvegicus (Crustacea: Decapoda) in relation to trawl capture stress

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2005
The effects of trawling on cardiac rhythmicity of Nephrops norvegicus (L.) are still mostly unknown. Ultradian rhythms reported in previous studies may result from trawling capture stress, thus disappearing following acclimatisation to laboratory ...

Growth and integrability of Fourier transforms on Euclidean space [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
A fundamental theme in classical Fourier analysis relates smoothness properties of functions to the growth and/or integrability of their Fourier transform. By using a suitable class of $L^{p}-$multipliers, a rather general inequality controlling the size of Fourier transforms for large and small argument is proved. As consequences, quantitative Riemann-

Efficient and Scalable Radiative Cooling for Photovoltaics Using Solution‐Processable and Solar‐Transparent Mesoporous Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graded refractive index (GRI) structures are prepared from the layer‐by‐layer spray coating of the mesoporous SiO2 nanoparticles, showing high solar transparency and thermal emissivity. Under outdoor conditions, after 50 days, the GRI‐coated photovoltaics show on average 6.65 ± 1.48 °C lower than that of the non‐coated references, maintaining 80.9 ± 8 ...
