Photo-acoustic tomography in a rotating setting

open access: yes, 2019
Photo-acoustic tomography is a coupled-physics (hybrid) medical imaging modality that aims to reconstruct optical parameters in biological tissues from ultrasound measurements. As propagating light gets partially absorbed, the resulting thermal expansion

Joule‐Assisted Nanotherapeutic Urethral Stent (JANUS) for Spatiotemporal Theragenerative Treatment of Urethral Strictures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Joule‐assisted nanotherapeutic urethral stent harnesses a smart, biodegradable magnesium stent to orchestrate spatiotemporal theragenerative therapy for urethral strictures. Magnetically induced Joule heating enables on‐demand drug release and bacterial ablation, while simultaneously guiding urothelial regeneration.

Fourier series approximation for the Cauchy singular integral equation

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2018
Using the Fourier series as a projection in the Galerkin method, we approach the solution of the Cauchy singular integral equation. This study is carried in \(L^2\). Numerical examples are developped to show the effectiveness of this method.

On the microlocal analysis of the geodesic X-ray transform with conjugate points [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study the microlocal properties of the geodesic X-ray transform $\mathcal{X}$ on a manifold with boundary allowing the presence of conjugate points. Assuming that there are no self-intersecting geodesics and all conjugate pairs are nonsingular we show

Material Composition Gradient Controls the Autonomous Opening of Banksia Seed Pods in Fire‐Prone Habitats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The seed pod valves of Australian Banksia attenuata plants are not simply bi‐layers which bend when dry. These experiments and models reveal complex mechanics, which allow seed release only after several steps of seed pod opening. Stiffness gradients prevent delamination of the valves during loading, and a shape‐memory function protects the seeds ...

Regularization of the electrostatics problem for three spheres and an electrostatic charge

open access: yesVisnik Harkivsʹkogo Nacionalʹnogo Universitetu im. V.N. Karazina. Cepiâ Matematika, Prikladna Matematika i Mehanika, 2020
A numerical-analytical algorithm for investigation of the potential of a sphere with a circular hole, surrounded by external and internal closed ribbon spheres, is constructed. The number of ribbons on the spheres is arbitrary. The ribbons on the spheres

Bounds for singular fractional integrals and related Fourier integral operators [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 199 (2003), 48--91., 2002
We prove sharp L^p-L^q endpoint bounds for singular fractional integral operators and related Fourier integral operators, under the nonvanishing rotational curvature assumption.

Ultra‐Fast Non‐Volatile Resistive Switching Devices with Over 512 Distinct and Stable Levels for Memory and Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A materials and device design concept that comprises a self‐assembled ultra‐thin epitaxial ion‐transporting layer, an amorphous oxide overcoat oxygen‐blocking layer, and a partial filament formed during an electroforming step is proposed for low‐current multilevel resistive switching devices.

Quantization of pseudo-differential operators on the torus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal Fourier Anal. Appl., 16 (2010), 943-982, 2008
Pseudo-differential and Fourier series operators on the n-torus are analyzed by using global representations by Fourier series instead of local representations in coordinate charts. Toroidal symbols are investigated and the correspondence between toroidal and Euclidean symbols of pseudo-differential operators is established.
