The radiology of Fournier's gangrene
The British Journal of Radiology, 1977In 1884 Fournier described five patients with acute idiopathic gangrene of the scrotum characterized by rapid onset and progression. Approximately 100 cases have been reported. It occurs mainly in healthy men between the ages of 20 and 50 (Burpee and Edward, 1972), but has occurred as early as four months of age (Soong and Whee, 1966).
