Tools for modelling support and construction of optimization applications [PDF]
We argue the case for an open systems approach towards modelling and application support. We discuss how the 'usability' and 'skills' analysis naturally leads to a viable strategy for integrating application construction with modelling tools and ...

Self‐organized Criticality in Neuromorphic Nanowire Networks With Tunable and Local Dynamics
Memristive nanowire networks (NWNs) are shown to be electrically tunable to a critical state where specific local dynamics evaluated by multiterminal characterization are exploited as feature selection in nonlinear transformation (NLT) tasks.

Application Software, Domain-Specific Languages, and Language Design Assistants [PDF]
While application software does the real work, domain-specific languages (DSLs) are tools to help produce it efficiently, and language design assistants in turn are meta-tools to help produce DSLs quickly. DSLs are already in wide use (HTML for web pages,

Towards Neural Functional Program Evaluation [PDF]
This paper explores the capabilities of current transformer-based language models for program evaluation of simple functional programming languages. We introduce a new program generation mechanism that allows control over syntactic sugar for semantically equivalent programs.

Negative‐ and positive‐staining TEM is essential for rapid nanometer‐resolution characterization of organic specimens ranging from nanoparticles to cells. Uranyl salts are widely used negative‐/positive‐stains but are radioactive and highly toxic to users and the environment.

Designing for Degradation: Transient Devices Enabled by (Nano)Cellulose
Recent progress in transient devices enabled by (nano)cellulosic materials is reviewed. Transiency mechanisms, advantages of nanocelluloses, and a suite of applications are discussed. A circular thinking approach coupled with life cycle assessment is applied to critically revisit the potential, advantages, and challenges of nanocellulose‐enabled ...
