Exome Sequencing Reveals the Genetic Architecture of Non‐syndromic Orofacial Clefts and Identifies BOC as a Novel Causal Gene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nonsyndromic orofacial clefts (NSOFCs) are the most common craniofacial defects. Exome sequencing of 214 sporadic cases sheds new light on its genetic architecture and identifies many candidate pathogenic variants. Furthermore, functional studies establish BOC as a novel causal gene and reveal an unusual two‐locus model of inheritance via the epistatic

On the Evolution of Programming Languages [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper attempts to connects the evolution of computer languages with the evolution of life, where the later has been dictated by \emph{theory of evolution of species}, and tries to give supportive evidence that the new languages are more robust than the previous, carry-over the mixed features of older languages, such that strong features gets added

HIC1 suppresses Tumor Progression and Enhances CD8+ T Cells Infiltration Through Promoting GSDMD‐induced Pyroptosis in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings elucidate the innovative role of HIC1 as a transcriptional activator in GC, driving the initiation of pyroptosis and enhancing CD8+ T cell infiltration, which has certain novelty and creative significance. Collectively, targeting HIC1 can present an appealing immunotherapeutic strategy to improve outcomes in GC patients.

Purely Functional Structured Programming [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The idea of functional programming has played a big role in shaping today's landscape of mainstream programming languages. Another concept that dominates the current programming style is Dijkstra's structured programming. Both concepts have been successfully married, for example in the programming language Scala. This paper proposes how the same can be

Transpiling Programmable Computable Functions to Answer Set Programs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Programming Computable Functions (PCF) is a simplified programming language which provides the theoretical basis of modern functional programming languages. Answer set programming (ASP) is a programming paradigm focused on solving search problems. In this paper we provide a translation from PCF to ASP.
