The reduction in FOXA2 activity during lung development in fetuses from diabetic rat mothers is reversed by Akt inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2018
Hyperglycemia during pregnancy is associated with fetal lung development disorders and surfactant protein (SP) deficiency. Here, we examined the role of FOXA2 and Akt signaling in fetal lung development during diabetic pregnancy. Sprague‐Dawley rats were

FOXA2 rewires AP-1 for transcriptional reprogramming and lineage plasticity in prostate cancer

open access: yesNature Communications
FOXA family proteins act as pioneer factors by remodeling compact chromatin structures. FOXA1 is crucial for the chromatin binding of the androgen receptor (AR) in both normal prostate epithelial cells and the luminal subtype of prostate cancer (PCa ...

FXR controls insulin content by regulating Foxa2-mediated insulin transcription

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research
Farnesoid X receptor (FXR) is a nuclear ligand-activated receptor of bile acids that plays a role in the modulation of insulin content. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Forkhead box a2 (Foxa2) is an important nuclear transcription factor in pancreatic β-cells and is involved in β-cell function.

FOXA2 promotes prostate cancer growth in the bone.

open access: yesAmerican journal of translational research
Bone metastasis frequently occurs in advanced-stage prostate cancer (PCa) patients. Understanding the mechanisms that promote PCa-mediated bone destruction is important for the identification of therapeutic targets against this lethal disease. We found that forkhead box A2 (FOXA2) is expressed in a subset of PCa bone metastasis specimens.
