Effect of display luminance and ambient illuminance on the perceived quality of indoor environment images

open access: yesJournal of the Society for Information Display, EarlyView.
In a psychophysical experiment, participants evaluated the quality (preference, visual complexity, visual clarity, colorfulness, and visual interest) of images of indoor environments under different display luminance (50 cd/m2 and 250 cd/m2) and ambient illuminance (50 lx, 150 lx, 450 lx, and 900 lx) conditions.

Photonic Floquet–Bloch Oscillations Dominated by Floquet Gauge

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A new type of Bloch oscillations (namely, asymmetric Floquet–Bloch oscillations) whose evolution is biased along the evolution dimension is proposed and visually observed. The Floquet gauge can determine the light broadening to be biased toward the first or second half of the period. These findings reveal a new mechanism for wave packet revival and may

pH‐Dependent Pitting Corrosion in Nickel Thin Films

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
This study investigates pitting corrosion in nickel thin films under varying pH conditions and inhibitor presence. Surface defects and solution chemistry modulate pit formation, while simulations reveal metal redeposition driven by chemical potential gradients at the pit center.

3D Printable Magnetic Soft Actuators–Ink Formulation, Rheological Characterization, and Hydrogel Actuator Prototypes

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Magnetic inks for direct ink writing (DIW), a 3D printing technique, are formulated based on acrylamide, iron oxide, and the rheology modifier laponite. They have shear thinning and thixotropic properties. Prototypes printed by DIW, followed by thermal curing, could be magnetically actuated.

Black Families, Damned Territories: Anti‐Blackness and Black Motherhood in (White) Portuguese Parliamentary Debates (1995–2001)

open access: yesAntipode, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract The perceptions and representations of whiteness around motherhood, family, and black sexuality reproduce the logic of what Hortense Spillers calls “captive flesh”, controlling understandings about femininity, motherhood, and gender. This debate is guided by the politics of the racial neoliberal agenda that works to control the urban ...

Thermo‐Oxidative Aging and Performance Comparison of Recovered, Sustainable, and Virgin Carbon Black in Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer‐Based Elastomers

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study evaluates sustainable carbon black (sCB) and recovered carbon black (rCB) as substitutes for industrial carbon black N550 in EPDM compounds. Results indicate that sCB closely matches N550 in raw material properties and performance in rubber, while rCB, affected by impurities, alters cross‐linking density, and shows weaker reinforcement ...

Gelation Dynamics in Polydimethylsiloxane Bottlebrush Elastomers

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Dense grafting of side chains to a polymer backbone extends network strands and reduces entanglements. In cross‐linked networks, the lack of entanglements results in supersoft “bottlebrush” elastomers. Time‐resolved rheology is used to describe the key similarities and differences in structure formation between bottlebrush elastomers and analogous ...
