ABSTRACT This introduction explores ways of understanding multilingualism in relation to coloniality, with insights from ethnographic case studies in former colonies across several continents. We argue that this theme series advances theorization of the subtleties of power inherent in multilingual discourse with a focus on listening subject agency as ...

Abstract The availability of easy‐to‐measure and inexpensive biomarkers is a challenge for monitoring environmental stress in organisms. Although it has been proposed that non‐directional deviations from a symmetrical pattern in morphological traits (called fluctuating asymmetry.

A FRACTAL VARIATIONAL PRINCIPLE FOR THE TELEGRAPH EQUATION WITH FRACTAL DERIVATIVES
Fractals, 2020A fractal modification of the telegraph equation with fractal derivatives is given, and its variational principle is established by the semi-inverse method. The two-scale transform method and He’s homotopy perturbation method are successfully adopted to solve the fractal equation.

The Fractional Derivatives of a Fractal Function
Acta Mathematica Sinica, English Series, 2005The paper investigates the properties of Weyl-Marchaud fractional derivatives \[ D^vf(x) =\frac{v}{\Gamma(1-v)}\int_0^\infty \frac{f(x)-f(x-y)}{y^{1+v}}\, dy \] of a Weierstrass function \(W(t)=\sum_{j\geq 0}\lambda^{-\alpha j} \sin(\lambda^j t ...

The Local Fractional Derivative of Fractal Curves
2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems, 2008Fractal curves described by iterated function system (IFS) are generally non-integer derivative. For that we use fractional derivative to investigate differentiability of this curves. We propose a method to calculate local fractional derivative of a curve from IFS property. Also we give some examples of IFS representing the slopes of the right and left

On Fractal Derivatives and Applications
Mathematical Methods in the Applied SciencesABSTRACTIn this paper, we develop some fundamental tools for fractal derivatives, such as a Leibniz‐type product rule and a chain rule. Also, a local Picard theorem for an initial value problem via fractal derivatives is obtained. Finally, the Gompertz and logistic models associated to those differential operators are considered.
