Analysis of the relationship between dominant lithological features in the sub-basins of Zagros tectonic unit and their fractal dimension [PDF]

open access: yesجغرافیا و توسعه, 2022
Fractal geometry is a suitable instrument for studying and understanding the complex behavior of a river. The most important feature of the fractal is its dimension.

Applying Surface Fractal Analysis (SFA) in analysis of surface anomalies and its relation with changes in morphotectonic zones in the margin of the High Zagros Belt (HZB) [PDF]

open access: yesمخاطرات محیط طبیعی, 2020
Fractal geometry is a method for describing a self-similar or a self-affine property in complex landforms and explanation of surface complexities and roughness.

Fractal Characteristics of Deep Shales in Southern China by Small-Angle Neutron Scattering and Low-Pressure Nitrogen Adsorption

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
The occurrence and flow of shale gas are substantially impacted by nanopore structures. The fractal dimension provides a new way to explore the pore structures of shale reservoirs. In this study, eight deep shale samples from Longmaxi Formation to Wufeng

Oscillatory integrals and fractal dimension [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin des Sciences Mathématiques, 2021
We study geometrical representation of oscillatory integrals with an analytic phase function and a smooth amplitude with compact support. Geometrical properties of the curves defined by the oscillatory integral depend on the type of a critical point of the phase. We give explicit formulas for the box dimension and the Minkowski content of these curves.

Fractal dimension of coastline of Australia [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
AbstractCoastlines are irregular in nature having (random) fractal geometry and are formed by various natural activities. Fractal dimension is a measure of degree of geometric irregularity present in the coastline. A novel multicore parallel processing algorithm is presented to calculate the fractal dimension of coastline of Australia.

Fractal Description of Rock Fracture Networks Based on the Space Syntax Metric

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
Fractal characteristics and the fractal dimension are widely used in the description and characterization of rock fracture networks. They are important tools for coal mining, oil and gas transportation, and other engineering problems. However, due to the

Improving the signal subtle feature extraction performance based on dual improved fractal box dimension eigenvectors [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
Because of the limitations of the traditional fractal box-counting dimension algorithm in subtle feature extraction of radiation source signals, a dual improved generalized fractal box-counting dimension eigenvector algorithm is proposed.

On the Fractal Dimension of Isosurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2010
A (3D) scalar grid is a regular n1 x n2 x n3 grid of vertices where each vertex v is associated with some scalar value sv. Applying trilinear interpolation, the scalar grid determines a scalar function g where g(v) = sv for each grid vertex v. An isosurface with isovalue σ is a triangular mesh which approximates the level set g(-1)(σ).
