Classical Liquids in Fractal Dimension [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
We introduce fractal liquids by generalizing classical liquids of integer dimensions $d = 1, 2, 3$ to a fractal dimension $d_f$. The particles composing the liquid are fractal objects and their configuration space is also fractal, with the same non-integer dimension.

Modeling Urban Growth and Form with Spatial Entropy

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
Entropy is one of the physical bases for the fractal dimension definition, and the generalized fractal dimension was defined by Renyi entropy. Using the fractal dimension, we can describe urban growth and form and characterize spatial complexity.

Trans-scale relationship analysis between the pore structure and macro parameters of backfill and slurry [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
The characteristics of the porous structure of backfill are directly related to the macro parameters of the flowability of the filling slurry and the mechanical features of the backfill, which are fundamental to the study of multiscale mechanics of ...

Fractal Dimensions of Macromolecular Structures [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Informatics, 2014
AbstractQuantifying the properties of macromolecules is a prerequisite for understanding their roles in biochemical processes. One of the less‐explored geometric features of macromolecules is molecular surface irregularity, or ‘roughness’, which can be measured in terms of fractal dimension (D).

Fractal dimension for fractal structures

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 2014
The main goal of this paper has a double purpose. On the one hand, we propose a new definition in order to compute the fractal dimension of a subset respect to any fractal structure, which completes the theory of classical box-counting dimension. Indeed, if we select the so called natural fractal structure on each euclidean space, then we will get the ...

FRACTAL DIMENSION

open access: yes, 2022
Fractal geometry provides a powerful tool for scale-free spatial analysis of cities, but the fractal dimension calculation results always depend on methods and scopes of the study area. This phenomenon has been puzzling many researchers. This paper is devoted to discussing the problem of uncertainty of fractal dimension estimation and the potential ...

Closed Contour Fractal Dimension Estimation by the Fourier Transform [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work proposes a novel technique for the numerical calculus of the fractal dimension of fractal objects which can be represented as a closed contour.

Predictive modeling of low-temperature performance of SMA-13 cold-patching asphalt mixtures based on fractal theory [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In order to study the relationship between the low-temperature performance of cold-patching asphalt mixtures and the fractal of gradation, 13 groups of SMA-13 gradations were designed, and then the low-temperature performance test of cold-patching ...

Seepage–Fractal Model of Embankment Soil and Its Application

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2022
Over time and across space, the hydraulic conductivity, fractal dimension, and porosity of embankment soil have strong randomness, which makes analyzing seepage fields difficult, affecting embankment risk analysis and early disaster warning.

Application of Fractal Dimension for Quantifying Noise Texture in Computed Tomography Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose Evaluation of noise texture information in CT images is important for assessing image quality. Noise texture is often quantified by the noise power spectrum (NPS), which requires numerous image realizations to estimate.
