A renormalisation approach to excitable reaction-diffusion waves in fractal media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Of fundamental importance to wave propagation in a wide range of physical phenomena is the structural geometry of the supporting medium. Recently, there have been several investigations on wave propagation in fractal media.

Recognition of the Pavilion in Relation to the Persian Garden from the Perspective of Fractal Geometry (Case Study: Pavilions of the Fathabad Garden in Kerman) [PDF]

open access: yesمنظر
Despite numerous studies conducted on Iranian gardens, the analytical investigation of the role of gardens in the shaping of pavilions has not received significant attention.

Holographic turbulence

open access: yes, 2013
We construct turbulent black holes in asymptotically AdS_4 spacetime by numerically solving Einstein equations. Both the dual holographic fluid and bulk geometry display signatures of an inverse cascade with the bulk geometry being well approximated by ...

Evaluation of cerebellar aging in MRI images: Fractal analysis compared to Euclidean geometry-based morphometry

open access: yesMeta-Radiology
Objectives: This study aimed to identify age-related changes in the fractal dimensions of the cerebellum and compare the sensitivity of fractal analysis and conventional Euclidean geometry-based morphometry to cerebellar aging.

The Fractal Geometry of Urban Land Use: The Case of Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia

open access: yesLand, 2018
This research summarizes land use and city expansion, as well as the dynamics of urbanization, over recent years in Ulaanbaatar city, Mongolia. The study applies fractal geometry to describe land uses in Ulaanbaatar city using a mathematical procedure ...

Mapping Nanoscale Protein‐Corona Kinetics of DoE‐Optimized Perfluorocarbon Encapsulated‐PLGA Nanoparticles by In Situ, Time‐Resolved Synchrotron SAXS

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐phase workflow (OFAT screening followed by central composite design) maps how processing variables tune PFCE‐PLGA nanoparticle size, dispersity, surface charge, loading, and 19F‐MRI signal. In situ, time‐resolved synchrotron SAXS tracks albumin‐corona growth on intact dispersions and reveals PFCE‐dependent adsorption pathways.

Mixing in turbulent jets: scalar measures and isosurface geometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Experiments have been conducted to investigate mixing and the geometry of scalar isosurfaces in turbulent jets. Specifically, we have obtained high-resolution, high-signal-to-noise-ratio images of the jet-fluid concentration in the far field of round ...

Transfer across Random versus Deterministic Fractal Interfaces

open access: yes, 2000
A numerical study of the transfer across random fractal surfaces shows that their responses are very close to the response of deterministic model geometries with the same fractal dimension. The simulations of several interfaces with prefractal geometries
