Fractal image denoising

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2003
Over the past decade, there has been significant interest in fractal coding for the purpose of image compression. However, applications of fractal-based coding to other aspects of image processing have received little attention. We propose a fractal-based method to enhance and restore a noisy image.

Fractal Dimension of Color Fractal Images

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2011
Fractal dimension is a very useful metric for the analysis of the images with self-similar content, such as textures. For its computation there exist several approaches, the probabilistic algorithm being accepted as the most elegant approach. However, all the existing methods are defined for 1-D signals or binary images, with extension to grayscale ...

Fractal images induce fractal pupil dilations and constrictions

International Journal of Psychophysiology, 2014
Fractals are self-similar structures or patterns that repeat at increasingly fine magnifications. Research has revealed fractal patterns in many natural and physiological processes. This article investigates pupillary size over time to determine if their oscillations demonstrate a fractal pattern.

Fractal image compression

Journal of Functional Programming, 2013
AbstractThis paper describes some experiences of using fractal image compression as the subject of an assignment for a functional programming course using Haskell. The students were fascinated by the reproduction of images from their encodings and engaged well with the exercise which involved only elementary functional programming techniques.

FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION

Fractals, 1994
This paper begins by presenting a simple explanation of the main ideas in fractal image compression. It then presents a brief discussion of the current state of the art along with some results comparing fractal encoding, JPEG, and a wavelet scheme. The conclusion contains references to many of the latest theoretical and implementation results.

Fractal Image Compression

1997
Abstract What is multimedia? It is a special publication or “title”; it can be “read” inter actively on a computer screen and it is made up of text, pictures and probably sound and motion video as well. Early multimedia titles ran on microcomputers such as the Apple Mac or IBM PCs and popular sources of material for such early titles ...
