Fractal Imaging Technology

Library Review, 1993
Outlines the development of the theory of fractal imaging technology and the evolvement of the theory into a practical technology for storing images. Describes the use of fractal imaging technology to store and index 44,000 images in the George Washington Wilson Collection, in the Queen Mother Library, University of Aberdeen.

STOCHASTIC LEARNING OF FRACTAL IMAGES

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2004
Optimal compression and decompression of fractal images can be performed by out-of-equilibrium stochastic systems which exhibit a learning behaviour. We show how stochastic systems of this type are able to learn the structure of classical fractal images in a simple situation.

Fractal image compression

Signal Processing: Image Communication, 1993
Abstract Image compression techniques based on fractals have been developed in the last few years and may promise better compression performance. Fractal image compression techniques are being developed due to the recognition that fractals can describe natural scenes better than shapes of traditional geometry.

Fractal Image Encoding

1990
Abstract : Rapid image decompression is crucial for many potential Navy and commercial users of the fractal image compression scheme. The focus of the work was the development of IFS algorithms and computer code for image compression, the refinement of algorithms and computer code for compressing color images and the development of wavelet methods for ...

Fractal Image Encoding

1988
Increasingly, the output of physical and numerical experiments is presented as two dimensional images, instead of as tables and graphs of observed real variables. Instances include pictures of diffusion limited aggregates, fractal fingering boundaries between fluids, and images of turbulent flows.

Fractal Analysis in Medical Imaging

International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2002
Summary: Anatomic and functional studies of the living body have revealed that organs have structures in space and fluctuations in time that cannot be characterized by one spatial or temporal scale. Such as lung vasculature or vermis of the cerebellum has a structure in which its small scale appears similar to its large-scale form.

SECURE FRACTAL IMAGE CODING BASED ON FRACTAL PARAMETER ENCRYPTION

Fractals, 2009
In recent work, various fractal image coding methods are reported, which adopt the self-similarity of images to compress the size of images. However, till now, no solutions for the security of fractal encoded images have been provided. In this paper, a secure fractal image coding scheme is proposed and evaluated, which encrypts some of the fractal ...

Entropy Constrained Fractal Image Coding

Fractals, 1997
In this paper we present an entropy constrained fractal coding scheme. In order to get high compression rates, previous fractal coders used hierarchical coding schemes with variable range block sizes. Our scheme uses constant range block sizes, but the complexity of the fractal transformations is adapted to the image contents.
