A Box-Counting Method with Adaptable Box Height for Measuring the Fractal Feature of Images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Most of the existing box-counting methods for measuring fractal features are only applicable to square images or images with each dimension equal to the power of 2 and require that the box at the top of the box stack of each image block is of the same ...

The multi-fractal structure of contrast changes in natural images: from sharp edges to textures

open access: yes, 2000
We present a formalism that leads very naturally to a hierarchical description of the different contrast structures in images, providing precise definitions of sharp edges and other texture components. Within this formalism, we achieve a decomposition of

Smartly Assembled near‐Micron RF‐Responsive Agents Bridge Transarterial Embolization and Immunothermal Potentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a significant clinical challenge due to the limited efficacy of conventional treatments like surgery, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and transarterial embolization (TAE). Here, we develop an innovative TAE and immunothermal therapy strategy based on smartly assembled near‐micron layered double hydroxide ...

Evolutionary fractal image compression [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
This paper introduces evolutionary computing to fractal image compression. In fractal image compression a partitioning of the image into ranges is required. We propose to use evolutionary computing to find good partitionings. Here ranges are connected sets of small square image blocks.

Bioinspired Morphology‐Decoupled Soft Gripper with Enhanced Bidirectional Grasping Capability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological predation, a novel gripper decouples cross‐modal grasping via dual morphological configurations. Synergistically integrating hybrid rigid and soft coupled fingers with a metamaterial palm, the system performs active compliant grasping for static objects and passive cage capture for dynamic targets.

Soft and Adhesive Cardiac Patch for Electrophysiological and Contraction Measurement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed an epicardial electronic patch with a modulus similar to that of the heart (approximately 65kPa), which can collect stable electrocardiogram signals and myocardial contractility on the surface of a dynamically beating heart. This is attributed to the hydrogen bond interaction formed between the amino and catechol groups in the ...

A General and Efficient Framework for the Rapid Design of Miniaturized, Wideband, and High‐Bit RIS

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A general and efficient framework is proposed for the rapid design of high‐performance reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). This framework integrates advanced antenna design techniques and incorporates various load types, quantities, and values to achieve the design of high‐performance RISs.

Fractal representations in image processing of remote sensing of the earth [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
This article explores the application of fractal representations in the image processing of remote sensing data for Earth observation. Fractals, with their self-similar properties and complex patterns, offer a powerful mathematical framework for ...

Search for diffuse cosmic gamma-ray flux using Fractal and Wavelet analysis from Galactic region using single imaging Cerenkov telescopes

open access: yes, 2010
We show from a simulations-based study of the TACTIC telescope that fractal and wavelet analysis of Cerenkov images, recorded in a single imaging Cerenkov telescope, enables almost complete segregation of isotropic gamma-ray initiated events from the ...

Primality, Fractality, and Image Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
This paper deals with the hidden structure of prime numbers. Previous numerical studies have already indicated a fractal-like behavior of prime-indexed primes. The construction of binary images enables us to generalize this result. In fact, two-integer sequences can easily be converted into a two-color image.
