Inkjet‐Printed Physical Unclonable Functions For Secure Authentication

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a low‐cost authentication system based on a scalable fabrication technology and user friendly recognition system. It involves inkjet printing as a manufacturing method and an optical recognition system based on contour features extraction.

Conceptual colour: race, economic knowledge, and the anthropology of financialization De la couleur comme concept : race, connaissances économiques et anthropologie de la financiarisation

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Economic anthropologists now carry out fieldwork in settings for which the ethnographic method was never designed, amongst powerful financial actors who are notoriously difficult to access, and in contexts which transcend geographical boundaries. This has engendered a re‐orientation of anthropology, to consider not only the economic lives of people but

Automated Melanocytic Lesion Classification: Capsule Networks Trained With Synthetic Images Can Outperform Networks Trained With Real Images

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are known, due to inherent flaws in their design, to be subject to classification error. Many of these shortcomings in classification performance were addressed in 2017 with the introduction of capsule networks (CNs).

ITERATION FREE FRACTAL COMPRESSION USING GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR STILL COLOUR IMAGES [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2014
The storage requirements for images can be excessive, if true color and a high-perceived image quality are desired. An RGB image may be viewed as a stack of three gray-scale images that when fed into the red, green and blue inputs of a color monitor ...

Early Maturation of Heart Rate Variability in Very Preterm Infants Depends on Neonatal Factors and Is Associated With Neurodevelopmental Risk

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim This study investigated central autonomic network maturation deviations using a previously defined machine learning model set to estimate a functional maturation age (FMA) from heart rate variability (HRV) analysis. We investigated whether these deviations were associated with maternal, fetal, perinatal, or postnatal complications and with

Study the Performance of Fractal Gray Image Compression Using Different Images Size

open access: yesJournal of Kufa-Physics, 2015
In this paper we investigate the effect of image size on the compression parameters of the fractal image compression technique(FIC)  proposed by Jacquin This research is tested on 8 bits/pixel gray images, three different size of gray image have been ...

What can lithics tell us about food production during the transition to farming? Exploring harvesting practices and cultural changes during the neolithic in Southwest Asia: a view from Qminas (north‐western Syria)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines the continuity and change in harvesting practices between the Late Pre‐Pottery Neolithic B (LPPNB) and the Early Pottery Neolithic at Qminas, north‐western Levant, through a traceological analysis of flint sickles. By combining qualitative traceological analysis with quantitative functional approaches, we demonstrate that ...

ENHANCED ITERATION-FREE FRACTAL IMAGE CODING ALGORITHM WITH EFFICIENT SEARCH AND STORAGE SPACE [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2010
An enhanced iteration free fractal algorithm is proposed in this research paper to design an efficient domain pool for image compression. The proposed methodology reduces the coding process time, intensive computation tasks and also the memory ...

One‐Class Autoencoders for Porcelain Art Attribution: The Case of William Billingsley

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This comprehensive study explores the application of advanced machine learning techniques, specifically one‐class autoencoders, for the authentication and attribution of English porcelain artworks. Focusing primarily on the works of William Billingsley (1758–1828), one of England's most celebrated porcelain decorators, we demonstrate how ...

Information and affective valence influence judgments of complexity, liking and understanding

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Visual complexity is a key factor in perceptual and evaluative judgments. People's representation of visual complexity is constructed from quantitative and structural image features, but it is also influenced by familiarity and expertise. We examined how people represent visual complexity and its impact on perception and evaluation, focusing ...
