Multiresolution Analysis of Fractal Image Compression

Fractals, 1997
In this research, we perform a multiresolution analysis of the mappings used in fractal image compression. We derive the transform-domain structure of the mappings and demonstrate a close connection between fractal image compression and wavelet transform coding using the Haar basis.

CRITICAL REVIEW OF FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION

International Journal of Modern Physics C, 1995
In this paper, fractal compression methods are reviewed. Three new methods are developed and their results are compared with the results obtained using four previously published fractal compression methods. Furthermore, we have compared the results of these methods with the standard JPEG method.

Fractal-Based Image Compression

1989
Abstract : A short review of the theory of iterated function systems (IFS), a thorough explanation of their implementation, and an example using computer code useful in developing encoded images are presented. An example of an encoded map, with a brief discussion of data compression and error analysis, is presented. Details of an extension of IFS codes

Image compression with fractals

IEE Colloquium on Fractals in Signal and Image Processing, 1995
Fractal image compression has gone through more than twenty years developments among which, IFS based compression algorithm stands out as the most promising direction for further research and development. The basic idea is to represent an image by fractals.

Image steganography in fractal compression

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
This paper proposes a steganographic scheme utilizing within and/or after fractal encoding procedures on images for data security. Fractal generation exploits the concepts of iterated function systems (IFS) consisting of a collection of contractive transformations.

Fractal image compression

2021
ABSTRACT The purpose of this thesis is to show that fractal image compression can be studied with the same point of view as conventional image compression techniques. The first chapter gives a brief on fractal compression technology. How was the early investigations. What is the base of Fractal Compression ? and whom made it available.

Fractal compression of satellite images

Journal of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, 2008
Fractal geometry provides a means for describing and analysing the complexity of various features present in digital images. In this paper, characteristics of Fractal based compression of satellite data have been tested for Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) images (of different bands and resolution).

Fast fractal image compression

Proceedings International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing (Cat. No.PR00540), 2002
In this paper, we propose a method of regional search for fractal image compression and decompression. In this method, the search for fractal codes is carried out in a region of the image instead of over the whole image. Because the area surrounding a partitioned block has a high probability of being similar to the block, the use of regional search to ...

Fast fractal compression of greyscale images

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2001
A new algorithm for fractal compression of greyscale images is presented. It uses some previous results allowing the compression process to be reduced to a nearest neighbors problem, and is essentially based on a geometrical partition of the image block feature space.

VQ-enhanced fractal image compression

Proceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
A novel hybrid scheme combining fractal image compression with mean-removed shape-gain vector quantization is presented. The scheme uses a small set of VQ codebook blocks as a block classifier for the domain blocks and as an alternative means of coding when able to provide a satisfying distortion.
