Terrain Synthesis and Authoring based on Iso‐Contours

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Digital terrains are central to realistic landscape depiction, yet authoring tools must balance perceptual realism with intuitive artistic control. We propose a compact vector‐based representation that models terrain as nested iso‐contours, inspired by geomorphology and cartography.

Bridging the implementation gap in MCABC inventory management: from a taxonomy to practical archetypes

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Despite increasing demands for resilient and sustainable supply chains, inventory management often relies on outdated single‐criterion analyses. While multi‐criteria ABC (MCABC) analyses provide a theoretically mature assessment of resilience‐sustainability‐benefit trade‐offs in inventory, their adoption remains limited due to fragmented ...

How Violence Shapes Place: The Rise of Neo‐Authoritarianism in the Global Value Chain and the Emergence of an ‘Infernal Place’ in the Bangladesh Garment Industry

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines how and to what extent violence has become a pivotal tool for conducting business in places integrated into the global value chain. It also explores the roles stakeholders play in silencing workers' resistance within these places.

How Institutions Shape the Effects of Agricultural Cooperatives on Their Members

open access: yesKyklos, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agricultural cooperatives represent a promising way of improving the quality of life of half a billion smallholders, who account for the vast majority of the world's food production. Yet, little is known about the institutional factors that explain the potential benefits of being a member of a cooperative.

Solving Stochastic Climate‐Economy Models: A Deep Least‐Squares Monte Carlo Approach

open access: yesMathematical Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stochastic versions of recursive integrated climate‐economy assessment models are essential for studying and quantifying policy decisions under uncertainty. However, as the number of state variables and stochastic shocks increases, solving these models via deterministic grid‐based dynamic programming (e.g., value‐function iteration/projection ...

Recognition of fossil keratose sponges in carbonates using petrographic and machine‐learning classification

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Filamentous, anastomosing spar‐filled networks in Phanerozoic carbonates have been interpreted as the mineralised remains of keratose (non‐spiculate) sponges, yet their recognition remains contested because fabrics of broadly similar appearance may arise from microbial, diagenetic or physical processes. This study combines direct fossil–modern

What is a Multi‐Ethnic Party and How to Spot a Fake One?

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Multi‐ethnic parties have been variously defined: as those which do not champion the interests of, or mobilize against, any specific ethnic group; as those with a recognisably cross‐communal leadership or membership; and as those which acquire some distribution of support across groups.

Energetic microdomains and the vascular control of neuronal and muscle excitability: Toward a unified model

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The capillary–mitochondria–ion channel (CMIC) axis scales structural resources to match functional workload. (Left) In settings of restricted energetic capacity (e.g. cortical neurons), sparse capillary networks and modest mitochondrial pools set a lower energetic ceiling, sufficient to support phasic, low‐workload excitability. Unveiling the role of the venous system in arterial hypertension: A computational study

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This abstract figure summarizes the principal findings of our computational analysis of hypertension. Model‐based results identify reduced venous compliance as a major determinant of elevated arterial pressure, second only to increased peripheral resistance.
