Handgrip-enhanced myocardial fractional flow reserve for assessment of coronary artery stenoses
American Heart Journal, 2006Fractional flow reserve (FFR) may yield false-negative results in up to 12% of lesions tested, and there is a zone of uncertainty at borderline values.Forty-eight patients were investigated by means of dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE), coronary angiography, and FFR assessment of 48 coronary lesions before, during, and immediately after handgrip

We present a case of coronary artery disease with intermediate stenosis in the proximal left anterior descending artery, which was evaluated using multiple functional modalities. FFRCT demonstrated a significant perfusion abnormality in the LAD, and the value of FFRCT (0.68) was similar to the value measured by invasive FFR (0.67).

Background Fractional flow reserve (FFR), defined as the ratio of maximum flow in the presence of a stenosis to normal maximum flow, is a lesion-specific index of stenosis severity that can be calculated by simultaneous measurement of mean arterial, distal coronary, and central venous pressure (P a , P

Although myocardial fractional flow reserve (FFRmyo) has been demonstrated to be a useful index for determining functional significance of coronary stenosis, the data in previous studies was derived from a highly selected group of patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of FFRmyo in a more clinically relevant group of patients ...

The purpose of this review was to summarize the healing processes after myocardial infarction (MI) and to relate these temporal changes to data from serial imaging obtained by cardiac magnetic resonance, and then to relate these findings to the invasive measures of the indices of coronary physiology (e.g., fractional flow reserve, coronary flow reserve

Information on coronary physiology and myocardial blood flow (MBF) in patients with suspected angina is increasingly important to inform treatment decisions. A number of different techniques including myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), noninvasive estimation of MBF, and coronary flow reserve (CFR), as well as invasive methods for CFR and fractional ...

Computed tomography angiography (CCTA)-based calculations of fractional flow reserve (FFR) can improve the diagnostic performance of CCTA for physiologically significant stenosis but the computational resource requirements are high. This study aimed at establishing a simple and efficient algorithm for computing simulated FFR (S-FFR).

The objective of this study was to compare quantitative analysis of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) perfusion at 1.5 and 3 T against fractional flow reserve (FFR) as measured invasively. FFR is considered by many investigators to be a reliable standard to determine hemodynamically significant coronary artery stenoses.

Does coronary stenting following balloon angioplasty improve myocardial fractional flow reserve?
CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology, 1998Suboptimal distal coronary flow reserve after successful balloon angioplasty has been attributed to angiographically unrecognized inadequate lumen expansion, and adjunct coronary stenting has been shown to improve coronary flow reserve. The aim of this study was to investigate whether myocardial fractional flow reserve (FFRmyo) would increase further ...
