Persistence and Cyclical Dependence in the Monthly Euribor Rate [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyses two well-known features of interest rates, namely their time dependence and their cyclical structure. Specifically, it focuses on the monthly Euribor rate, using monthly data from January 1994 to May 2011.

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Adapting semi-analytical treatments to the time-fractional derivative Gardner and Cahn-Hilliard equations

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
This paper used the flexible and efficient least squares residual power series method (LSRPSM) to solve the time-fractional derivative Cahn-Hilliard and Gardener equations. The LSRPSM combines the residual power series method (RPSM) and the least squares

Diophantine Approximation Exponents and Continued Fractions for Algebraic Power Series

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 1999
Soit \(\mathbb F\) un corps fini de caractéristique \(p\). Si \(\alpha= \sum^{+ \infty}_{k=-n} a_kT^k\) est une série de Laurent et si \(a_{-n}\neq 0\), on pose \(|\alpha |=p^n\). Si \(\beta\in \mathbb F((T^{-1}))\) est algébrique sur \(\mathbb F(T)\) de degré \(\geq 2\), on note \(E(\beta)= \limsup(-\log |\beta -P/Q|/ \log|Q|)\) (où \(P\) et \(Q\in ...

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.

Continued fractions for hyperquadratic power series over a finite field

open access: yesFinite Fields and Their Applications, 2008
An irrational power series over a finite field \(\mathbb{F}_q\) of characteristic \(p\) is called hyperquadratic if it satisfies an algebraic equation of the form \(x=(Ax^r+B)/(Cx^r+D)\), where \(r\) is a power of \(p\) and the coefficients belong to the ring of polynomials \(\mathbb{F}_q[T]\).

International traveling and trade: further evidence for the case of Spanish wine based on fractional VAR specifications

open access: yes
This paper deals with the relationship between international travelling and trade. For this purpose we focus on a particular case study: the connection between the Spanish wine exports to Germany and the German travellers to Spain.

Determining the Cointegrating Rank in Nonstationary Fractional Systems by the Exact Local Whittle Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose to extend the cointegration rank determination procedure of Robinson and Yajima (2002) to accommodate both (asymptotically) stationary and nonstationary fractionally integrated processes as the common stochastic trends and cointegrating errors

Ultrasensitive Anti‐Stokes Luminescence Thermometry in Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a highly sensitive nanothermometer using anti‐Stokes photoluminescence, also known as photoluminescence upconversion (UPL), in monolayer tungsten disulfide. A strong resonantly enhanced UPL is observed, confirming the central role of optical phonons in the PL upconversion mechanism.

Modified Fractional Power Series Method for solving fractional partial differential equations

open access: yesScientific African
The literature revealed that the Fractional Power Series Method (FPSM), which uses the Mittag-Leffler function in one parameter, has been gainfully applied in obtaining the solutions of fractional partial differential equations (FPDEs) in one dimension ...
