Subband Engineering Even-Denominator Quantum Hall States

open access: yes, 2010
Proposed even-denominator fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) states suggest the possibility of excitations with non-Abelian braid statistics. Recent experiments on wide square quantum wells observe even-denominator FQHE even under electrostatic tilt ...

WANNIER FUNCTIONS AND FRACTIONAL QUANTUM HALL EFFECT [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 1995
We introduce and study the Wannier functions for an electron moving in a plane under the influence of a perpendicular uniform and constant magnetic field. The relevance for the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect is discussed; in particular, it shown that an interesting Hartree–Fock state can be constructed in terms of Wannier functions.

Unveiling New Perspectives on the Hirota–Maccari System With Multiplicative White Noise

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, we delve into the stochastic Hirota–Maccari system, which is subjected to multiplicative noise according to the Itô sense. The stochastic Hirota–Maccari system is significant for its ability to accurately model how stochastic affects nonlinear wave propagation, providing valuable insights into complex systems like fluid dynamics

Fractional quantum Hall effect today

open access: yesSolid State Communications, 1998
A short review of recent developments in the area of the fractional quantum Hall effect is presented. The article attempts to develop some intuitive images of the highly-correlated electron behavior. It emphasizes the new states at half-filled landau levels and their composite fermion quasiparticles.

Superimposed Sacrificial Texturing to Enhance the Optical Performance in Thin‐Film Solar Cells

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
Sacrificial texturing method using controlled etching of undoped zinc oxide and indium‐doped tin oxide generates microscale and nanoscale textures on glass. Roughness on two different scales is superimposed to create a new texture capable of broad‐spectrum scattering, which is utilised in thin‐film silicon solar cells to enhance optical performance ...

Lanthanide‐Doped NaGdF4 Nanoparticles as Versatile Luminescent Labels for Cathodoluminescence Mapping

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
This study presents a synthesis method for lanthanide‐doped NaGdF4 particles in an aqueous environment. Clearly distinct cathodoluminescence (CL) spectra were observed for europium‐ and thulium‐doped nanoparticles, stable for up to 100 s of excitation time.

Gate‐Assisted Programmable Molecular Doping of Epitaxial Graphene Devices

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Molecular dopants encapsulated in a top‐gated epitaxial graphene device allow reversible, gate‐assisted, controlled tuning of the charge carriers by more than 4x1013 cm−2 across the charge neutrality point. This method enables device applications by compensating for the large intrinsic n‐doping of as‐grown epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide ...

Revisiting the physics of hole-conjugate fractional quantum Hall channels

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
The fractional quantum Hall effect provides the first example of multiple quantum phases hosting quasiparticles not being fermions or bosons, but anyons.
