FIXATION OF PHALANGEAL FRACTURES
Hand Clinics, 1997The indications and methods for operative treatment of phalangeal fractures are reviewed. Included are descriptions with examples of closed reduction and percutaneous pin fixation, percutaneous reduction and percutaneous fixation, open reduction and internal fixation, and static and dynamic external fixation.

Internal fixation of fractures
International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1978In recent years close consideration of the biomechanical principles of treatment of mandibular fractures has led to the use of operative as well as conservative methods. Since this combined method of treatment appeared cumbersome, a new kind of osteosynthesis plate was developed for functionally stable internal fixation of mandibular fractures, without

Biomechanics of Fracture Fixation
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice, 2020This article reviews the biomechanical parameters of fracture repair that influence construct stiffness and strength. The stiffness influences the relative motion between fracture fragments, known as gap strain, and, thus, callus development. Construct strength determines the magnitude and number of load events that the repair can resist before failure.

Fracture fixation through flaps
Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2012Optimum management of open tibial fractures often requires a 'fix and flap' approach with the use of external fixators and muscle or other free flaps. Occasionally, due to the position of the wound and the fracture configuration (e.g. butterfly fragment) the pins or screws have to pass through the flap.

Stability of femoral neck fracture fixation: A finite element analysis
Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part H, journal of engineering in medicine, 2019Femoral neck fractures represent a relatively uncommon injury in the non-elderly population often resulting from high-energy trauma. Clinical outcome in these patients can be improved by optimizing surgical procedures and selecting appropriate fixation ...

Clinical Techniques in Small Animal Practice, 2004
Over the past decade, many improvements to small animal internal fracture fixation have been developed, including improved fixation techniques and a more diverse selection of implants. The understanding that appropriate fixation selection is based on a plethora of biologic, mechanical, and clinical factors has also emerged.

The Bone & Joint Journal, 2019
AIMS Cephalomedullary nails (CMNs) are commonly used for the treatment of intertrochanteric hip fractures. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) may be used as a salvage procedure when fixation fails in these patients.

Unstable Ankle Fracture Fixation Using Locked Fibular Intramedullary Nail in High‐Risk Patients
Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, 2019Open reduction internal fixation is the gold standard for unstable ankle fracture fixation; however, complications in patients with multiple medical comorbidities are common.

Failure Patterns of Femoral Neck Fracture Fixation in Young Patients.
Orthopedics, 2019The primary purpose of this study was to describe the failure patterns of femoral neck fracture fixation in young patients. The secondary purpose was to determine if pattern of failure varies by type of implant.
