Lithostratigraphy and depositional episodes of the Oligocene carbonate-rich Tikorangi Formation, Taranaki Basin, New Zealand

open access: yes, 2003
The subsurface Oligocene Tikorangi Formation is a unique and important oil producer in the onshore Waihapa-Ngaere Field, Taranaki Basin, being the only carbonate and fracture-producing reservoir within the basin. Core sample data from seven onshore wells

Fracture intensity and associated variability: A new methodology for 3D digital outcrop model analysis of carbonate reservoirs

open access: yes, 2023
The presence of hydraulically conductive fracture networks fundamentally affects subsurface fluid flow, the recovery factor and productivity in hydrocarbon carbonate reservoirs.

Geology and fracture system at Stripa. Technical information report No. 21 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The Stripa test site has been excavated in granitic rock between 338 m and 360 m below the ground surface, and is located under the north limb of an ENE-plunging synclinal structure. The granitic rocks, in the areas mapped, are of Archean age and are dominated by a reddish, medium-grained, massive monzogranite that shows varying degrees of deformation.

Fracture characteristics from two reactivated basement fault zones: examples from Norway and Shetland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Detailed analyses of fracture attributes developed in basement rocks associated with two, crustal-scale faults, have enabled the characteristics and evolution of the fracture system geometry to be documented quantitatively.

Optimized Selenium‐Doped Nanocomposites for Enhanced Polymer Gel Performance in Permeability Reduction

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excessive water production in mature oil fields necessitates robust shut‐off treatments, yet conventional polymer gels often fail under high‐temperature and high‐salinity conditions. This study aims to enhance gel thermal stability and mechanical strength by incorporating selenium‐doped Ag/AgO–ZnO nanocomposites synthesized via a novel green ...

Synergistic Physicochemical Inhibition of Reactive Shale Formations Using Hydrothermally Synthesized Hydroxyapatite Nickel Tungstate Nanocomposites in Water‐Based Drilling Fluids

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wellbore instability driven by the volumetric expansion of reactive shale formations remains a primary operational challenge in modern drilling engineering, causing severe mechanical failures and substantial economic deficits. The objective of this study is to formulate and evaluate a novel dual‐action chemical additive capable of ...

Geomechanical Characteristics and Stimulation of Dibei Deep Tight Sandstone Reservoirs in the Kuqa Depression of Tarim Basin

open access: yesGeofluids, 2023
Facing the problem of increased production of deep tight gas reservoirs, this study takes the Dibei gas reservoir in Tarim Basin as an example, carries out geomechanical research, and reveals the rock mechanical properties, in situ stress, and fracture ...

Characterisation of the 2D and 3D density and connectivity attributes of fracture systems in carbonate reservoir analogues: implications for fluid flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fault zones, hosted in fractured carbonate reservoirs, can behave as either high porosity and permeability conduits, favoring the migration of fluids; or, conversely, as low porosity and permeability barriers, retarding fluid flow, due to the presence of

Early Pliocene Varanus (Squamata, Varanidae) remains from Megalo Emvolon, Thessaloniki, Greece

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
The article describes new cranial and postcranial varanid material from Megalo Emvolon Lower Pliocene vertebrate fossil site near Thessaloniki. The fossils, likely representing a single individual, are referred to Varanus cf. marathonensis. Abstract This study describes new fossil varanid material from a recently discovered fossil spot (MVL site) at ...
