In Vitro Assessment of the Fracture Resistance of Different Prosthodontic Materials for Fixed Dental Prostheses

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: Fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) are commonly used in prosthodontics to restore missing teeth and improve oral function and esthetics. The selection of prosthodontic materials significantly impacts the fracture resistance of FDPs, thus ...

Microstructured Thin Film Nitinol for a Neurovascular Flow-Diverter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A cerebral aneurysm occurs as a result of a weakened blood vessel, which allows blood to flow into a sac or a ballooned section. Recent advancement shows that a new device, ‘flow-diverter’, can divert blood flow away from the aneurysm sac.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
