From Brittle to Ductile Fracture in Disordered Materials [PDF]
We introduce a lattice model able to describe damage and yielding in heterogeneous materials ranging from brittle to ductile ones. Ductile fracture surfaces, obtained when the system breaks once the strain is completely localized, are shown to correspond

Tensile strain and fracture of snow [PDF]
Abstract Measurements over several hours of the tensile strain of snow have been carried out, and the strain-rate e can be expressed in terms of stress σ, elapsed time t, and (Celsius) snow temperature T

Deformation and fracture behavior in TRIP steels under static and dynamic tensile conditions
The present study sought to explore the deformation and fracture behavior of Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) steel at five different strain rates (10−4 s−1, 1 s−1, 10 s−1, 100 s−1 and 1400 s−1).

Creep and Fracture in Concrete: A Fractional Order Rate Approach [PDF]
The paper analyses the interaction between strain-softening and time-dependent behaviour in the case of quasi-static fracture of concrete. A viscous element based on a fractional order rate law is coupled with a micromecanical model for the fracture ...

Fracture healing monitored with strain gauges [PDF]
We measured healing in 7 cases of surgical neck fracture of the humerus by applying a strain gauge measuring bar between the external fixation pins. Repeated measurements provided a healing curve for the individual cases. The gradual decrease in deflection of the fracture zone reached a plateau of about 50 percent after 2 to 4 weeks in 6 cases.
