High‐Performance Bio‐Glue From the Berries of a Parasitic Plant

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report a fully bio‐based adhesive derived primarily from a (poly)saccharide extract obtained from the berries of the hemi‐parasitic plant mistletoe (Viscum album), supplemented with tannic and malic acid without any further chemical functionalization.

Effects of Fractal Fracture Surface Roughness on Borehole Ballooning

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, 2009
Borehole ballooning or breathing is commonly observed during drilling through fractured zones. It refers to small, partial, and continuous mud losses and significant rapid mud gains due to annular pressure fluctuations resulting from mud circulation and noncirculation. Better understanding of the factors controlling borehole ballooning and breathing is

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.
