Toughness Calculation of Postfire Normal Concrete

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2014
Fracture tests of postfire normal concrete with ten temperatures up to 600°C are implemented. Residual fracture toughness using analytical method is determined. Two situations are divided at critical load when calculating the cohesive fracture toughness.

Arresting Microphase Separation Encodes Material Mechanics by Sculpting Microarchitectures and Local Polymer Enrichment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Microarchitecture sculpting via phase separation programs hydrogel mechanics by creating globular, inverse globular, and spinodal structures. Spinodal architectures deliver superior toughness and energy dissipation, while ionic modulation through single polymer phase separation offers a simple, scalable route to tune mechanical properties ...

Effect of minor reactive metal additions on fracture toughness of iron: 12-percent nickel alloy at-196 deg and 25 deg C [PDF]

open access: yes
The slow bend precracked Charpy fracture toughness and tensile behavior of arc-melted and hot-rolled Fe-12Ni alloys containing up to 4 atomic percent reactive metal additions were determined at -196 C and 25 C after water quenching from three annealing ...
