Ultrasonic ranking of toughness of tungsten carbide [PDF]
The feasibility of using ultrasonic attenuation measurements to rank tungsten carbide alloys according to their fracture toughness was demonstrated. Six samples of cobalt-cemented tungsten carbide (WC-Co) were examined.

Fracture of the $C$15 CaAl$_2$ Laves phase at small length-scales [PDF]
The cubic $C$15 CaAl$_2$ Laves phase is a crucial brittle intermetallic precipitate in Mg-Al-Ca alloys. Although knowledge of the mechanical properties of coexisting phases is essential for improved alloy design, the fracture toughness is not yet studied experimentally due to the need for miniaturised testing.

Fracture toughness of materials [PDF]
Crack tip dislocation emission in bulk specimens have been measured in single crystal specimens and the measurements are well below the accepted theoretical values for dislocation emission. The image forces on a dislocation due to the presence of a semi-infinite crack are used to calculate the potential energy of the dislocation around the crack ...

A Multifunctional Binder for Current‐Collector‐Free Zn Powder Anodes
By introducing abundant polar groups as Zn2+ absorption sites and hydrogen bond arrays, a protein structure‐derived binder for ZP anode and iodine cathode is proposed. This design can regulate the Zn2+ flux, benefit the formation of free‐standing electrode, inhibit the side reactions, suppress the shuttle effect of polyiodides, and enable the large ...
