Fracture-Liquid Transmissibility in Fractured Porous Media
SPE Reservoir Engineering, 1994Summary The flow of oil phase in the gas/oil two-phase region in fractures is a key to production performance of fractured petroleum reservoirs where gravity drainage is the dominant mechanism. In this study, data on a set of experiments that center on flow of the oil phase in the fractures are presented.

Flow in fractured porous media
Water Resources Research, 1977The equations governing the flow of fluid through fractured porous media are derived. These equations consist of Darcy's law for fluid flow in the primary pores, equations of motion for fluid flow in the fractures, and two continuity equations. The system of equations is coupled by the interaction of fluid in the primary pores with fluid in the ...

Permeability of fractured porous media
ECMOR VII - 7th European Conference on the Mathematics of Oil Recovery, 2000Flow in fractured porous media was first investigated by Barenblatt and Zheltov (1960) and Barenblatt et al. (1960) by means of the double porosity model. A direct and complete solution of the flow in such media is given in this paper. Some preliminary results are presented and discussed; they show the importance of the percolation threshold of the ...

Wave propagation in disordered fractured porous media
Physical Review E, 2014Extensive computer simulations have been carried out to study propagation of acoustic waves in a two-dimensional disordered fractured porous medium, as a prelude to studying elastic wave propagation in such media. The fracture network is represented by randomly distributed channels of finite width and length, the contrast in the properties of the ...

Multiphase-Flow Properties of Fractured Porous Media
Proceedings of SPE Western Regional Meeting, 1999Abstract The fluid transfer parameters between matrix and fracture are not well known. Consequently, simulation of fractured reservoirs uses, in general, very crude and unproved hypothesis such as zero capillary pressure in the fracture and/or relative permeability functions that are linear with saturation.

Gravity-Induced Drainage From Fractured Porous Media
Proceedings of SPE Western Regional Meeting, 1992Abstract Experimental results for flow rates and production from gravity drainage experiments involving water and aqueous surfactant solutions are presented. Computer Aided Tomography (CAT scan) results are also given which show through vertical saturation distributions that significant capillary connectivity occurs across horizontal ...

Macroscopic properties of fractured porous media
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2010Abstract The macroscopic properties of fractured porous media locally governed by a Laplace equation are determined by several methods. The first one consists in discretizing the porous medium and the fractures and in solving the Laplace equation in the discretized structure. The other methods consist in successive upscalings.

Viscous Displacement In Fractured Porous Media
Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology, 1997Abstract In some fractured reservoirs, a gas pressure gradient of the order of 3–5 kPa/m may be established in the- fractures due to flow. Such a pressure gradient could result in recovery enhancement of the matrix oil.

Fracturing in Dry and Saturated Porous Media
2017It is now generally recognized that mode I fracturing in saturated geomaterials is a stepwise process. This is true both for mechanical loading and for pressure induced fracturing. Evidence comes from geophysics, from unconventional hydrocarbon extraction, and from experiments.
