Cut Finite Elements for Convection in Fractured Domains
We develop a cut finite element method (CutFEM) for the convection problem in a so called fractured domain which is a union of manifolds of different dimensions such that a $d$ dimensional component always resides on the boundary of a $d+1$ dimensional ...

Correspondence between one- and two-equation models for solute\ud transport in two-region heterogeneous porous media [PDF]
In this work, we study the transient behavior of upscaled models for solute transport in two-region porous media. We focus on the following three models: (1) a time non-local, two-equation model (2eq-nlt).

Groundwater age dating in fractured rock using 4He data
Using environmental tracers to date groundwater age in fractured systems is difficult since mass exchange processes between fractures and matrix might mask the actual distribution of groundwater velocity, thus leading to biased results.

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

High-fidelity experimental model verification for flow in fractured porous media
Mixed-dimensional mathematical models for flow in fractured media have been prevalent in the modeling community for almost two decades, utilizing the explicit representation of fractures by lower-dimensional manifolds embedded in the surrounding porous ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
