Numerical treatment of temporal-fractional porous medium model occurring in fractured media
This paper proposes a temporal-fractional porous medium model (T-FPMM) for describing the co-current and counter-current imbibition, which arises in a water-wet fractured porous media. The correlation between the co-current and counter-current imbibition

Matrix-fracture exchange in a fractured porous medium: stochastic upscaling
We present in this Note a stochastic approach to the matrix-fracture exchange in a heterogeneous fractured porous medium. We introduce an intermediate scale, called the unit-scale, between the local-scale (fracture-scale) and the large-scale characteristic of the reservoir mesh (reservoir block).

Hydraulic fracturing analysis in fluid‐saturated porous medium
AbstractThis paper addresses fluid‐driven crack propagation in a porous medium. Cohesive interface elements are employed to model the behaviour of the crack. To simulate hydraulic fracturing, a fluid pressure degree of freedom is introduced inside the crack, separate from the fluid degrees of freedom in the bulk. Powell‐Sabin B‐splines, which are based

Analysis of progressive fracture in fluid‐saturated porous medium using splines [PDF]
AbstractPowell‐Sabin B‐splines are employed to model progressive fracturing in a fluid‐saturated porous medium. These splines are defined on triangles and are ‐continuous throughout the domain, including the crack tips, so that crack initiation can be evaluated directly at the tip.

It is well-known that the presence of geometry heterogeneity in porous media enhances solute mass mixing due to fluid velocity heterogeneity. However, laboratory measurements are still sparse on characterization of the role of high-permeability ...

Extended isogeometric analysis of a progressively fracturing fluid‐saturated porous medium [PDF]
AbstractAn extended isogeometric analysis (XIGA) approach is proposed for modeling fracturing in a fluid‐saturated porous material. XIGA provides a definition of the discontinuity independent of the underlying mesh layout, which obviates the need of knowing the crack extension direction a priori.
