Analysis of fluid substitution in a porous and fractured medium [PDF]
To improve quantitative interpretation of seismic data, we analyze the effect of fluid substitution in a porous and fractured medium on elastic properties and reflection coefficients. This analysis uses closed-form expressions suitable for fluid substitution in transversely isotropic media with a horizontal symmetry axis (HTI).

Quantum algorithms for geologic fracture networks
Solving large systems of equations is a challenge for modeling natural phenomena, such as simulating subsurface flow. To avoid systems that are intractable on current computers, it is often necessary to neglect information at small scales, an approach ...

Preferential Paths of Air-water Two-phase Flow in Porous Structures with Special Consideration of Channel Thickness Effects. [PDF]
Accurate understanding and predicting the flow paths of immiscible two-phase flow in rocky porous structures are of critical importance for the evaluation of oil or gas recovery and prediction of rock slides caused by gas-liquid flow.

This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Derivation of models of compressible miscible displacement in partially fractured reservoirs
We derive rigorously homogenized models for the displacement of one compressible miscible fluid by another in fractured porous media. We denote by $epsilon$ the characteristic size of the heterogeneity in the medium.

Saturation-Dependence of Dispersion in Porous Media [PDF]
In this study, we develop a saturation-dependent treatment of dispersion in porous media using concepts from critical path analysis, cluster statistics of percolation, and fractal scaling of percolation clusters. We calculate spatial solute distributions

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Interaction between Injection Points during Hydraulic Fracturing
We present a model of the hydraulic fracturing of heterogeneous poroelastic media. The formalism is an effective continuum model that captures the coupled dynamics of the fluid pressure and the fractured rock matrix and models both the tensile and shear ...
